I was actually looking around the other day for a picture of a bow and I stumbled upon a forum for archery that you posted on Brynn. I guess you are pretty well known in the hobby of Archery!

What are the differences between the different types of bow?

btw, sorry I spammed your thread, I didn't see the no spam tag.
some are lighter, some are heavier, fast, sleeker, slower, bulkier, you get the point right?

What effect does that have on the shooting though?

Is that guy missing an arm, or is it behind his back? If it's behind his back, does that make you go faster?

curling = my hobby

A great sport, I've been playing and competing for 8-9 years. One of our teams' goals in the next couple on years is to make it to a national championship and hopefully win.

It's on his back, he does that to get a better balance in the corners.

Yes, the playing surface is that of a sheet of ice. you slide out of a hack and release a rock that then travells down a the sheet to a target at the other end. There is one scoring zone which is broken down into 4 rings.

Hobbies, eh. Let's see. Kendo, Scale-model work, write, political activity (I personally know two of the Consol-Generals to Canada: Hugh Gaubeau and Mr. Yamagouchi, not to mention several high ranking Canadian Politicians, including the idiot that is Paul Martin). Not to mention an assortment of other things.

I've had to take a slight break from my sword training, simply for the fact that I train with an edged blade, and gave myself a nice little mark across my back a couple weeks ago, Shoulder hasn't been the same since.

EDIT: You can tell Curling is a Canadian sport. You can play with one hand, and drink with the other :D

:D :D :D Yes more than 80% of curlers live in canada (around 1.2 million), although curling was invented in Scotland.

Uh huh, and they drive on the wrong side of the road, and call think the boot of a car is at the front ;) Any questions?

Anyway, anyone who has actually PLAYED field hockey will know. It's kinda like ice hockey, but we're not so scared we have to wear huge pads ;) And hockey's origins lie in SHinty and Hurling, which are two of the most violent sports known to man. :)

:) Edited. Same for yours. And you appear to be veering towards the edge of being near to coming dangerously close to trolling :) Quit while ahead?

And anyway, it begs the question, why is one of the most well known american aports decended from a
womans game
??

And a quote from Wikipedia.com
Field hockey is a popular sport for men and women in many countries around the world. It is simply known as hockey in most countries, especially those in which ice hockey is not very prominent.
Many countries have extensive club competitions for both junior and senior players. Despite the large numbers of participants, club hockey is not a particularly large spectator sport and few players can afford to play professionally. In the United States for instance, hockey is widely regarded as a women's sport, but there are men's leagues as well, mostly on a collegiate level.

And a little on the history of hockey:
Field Hockey is the oldest known stick-and-ball game (perhaps apart from Irish Hurling which dates back to pre-historic times). Historical records show that games resembling modern field hockey were played in various ancient civilizations, although it is not possible to know exactly when and where the game began. While Modern hockey appears in the mid-18th century in England, primarily around schools institutions, it is not until the first half of the 19th century that hockey became firmly established, when the first club, Blackheath, is created in 1849 in south-east London, England.
Does that quell your doubts? Along with the fact that, despite hockey having been played for 4000+ years, The International Federation of Womens Hockey was only included into the official Federation of International Hockey in 1982, some some 3970 years after men started playing it? :p

LOL! Alright, I'm just messin with you anyway.. I like field hockey anyway. I think the only reason it is a girls sport here is that it conflicts with other more prominent sports in school. ie you can't play hockey and baseball, golf, whatever. It's certainly the most "manly" girls sport out there. I like hockey a lot and I can't skate so it works better fro me. We used to play it in gym class.
