Hobbies (no spam)

Post by Brynn »

As I get to "know" more and more ppl on GB I find that some of them have really interesting hobbies - like Moltovir does that jings-txij something and Maxi learns er... some other thing that's also not easy to remember...

Anyone else has an interesting hobby? In cases like mentioned above pls post a detailed description :D
interesting hobby?
What is interesting hobby? Is it something that majority of people would call odd? Or is it something that you personally think is interesting?

My avatar changes with my mood. If it is dark and ugly then I am not very happy and often as grumpy as bear. If it is something else then it means that i might be less ''me''.

Well, it doesn't have to be exotic or rare, if it's interesting for you it'll be intersting for me, too :) For exapmle, if it's jogging, tell us why it's so important for you or what are the aspects an average person wouldn't think of (I'm sure in the case of many sports/hobbies they look easier to do than they really are)...

Ninjitsu... what exactly is Ninjitsu?

Ninjitsu is the ancient Japanese Art of the Ninja. It's strict counter part (Samurai) is the exact opposite of a Ninja. Ninjitsu began more than 800 years ago. It was used back then for assasinations and stealing. Today it is taught for the sake of keeping the art alive.

Coins... these are a variety of coins, all in assortment.

They're from all over the world.

the bottom left one is the rare Eisenhower Silver dollar. There was only a batch of them made. It's an American coin and is worth over $13 now (if my calculations are correct) All the others are just plain coins from aroud the world. These include Kuwait, Bangladesh, US, UK, Germany, Canada, and lots more.
Wow! That's a pretty long blade for a guy your height!
LOL!

So what It's more than half my height. Big Whoop. And remember that old saying:

"It's not that size of the blade that matters. It's how you use it." ;) :D

@Brynn yea, that's why I practice with the wooden one, which I don't have with me right now. It's not like I'm gonna use the blade to chop someone's head off, it's for the sake of showing off :D

AHEM! Thanks.

Now, my hobby is archery :) I'm sure the first thing that comes to your mind is an ancient tribe running to battle shooting from horsebacks... (Yes, it was us, Hungarians :D ). However, archery has become a "science and an art" these days.

Image

If you have a look at this picture (of David barnes, btw, a famous Aussie competitor), you'll see how many gadgets are attached to the bow (this is called recurve, there are also traditional and compund bows). The long rod is called stabilizer, helps to decrease vibration during and after the shot, and balances the bow.
The shorter thing above that is the sight, used for aiming, obviously.
The limbs are usually made of wood/fiberglass or carbonfibre and other obscure high-tec materials to endure stress.
The riser is made of metal.

Oh, the stabilizer can't be seen very well... so I mean the rod with the v-bar in the middle.

Here is another pic which show the target face as well.

As for fitness, I try to run/walk, lift weights, etc. I also try to eat healthy and find other ways to stay in shape, since I have been sick, this hasn't been happening.

Cooking, I try new recipes from books all the time as well as making original creations. '

IM: I have no idea what you're talking about. ;)

Actually, Brynn, when you said Archery, the first thing that came to mind are the images you posted. My cousin's cousin takes (took) archery. Now if you were to mention bow and arrow, then that would be a whole different image in my mind. :D :p

I was actually looking around the other day for a picture of a bow and I stumbled upon a forum for archery that you posted on Brynn. I guess you are pretty well known in the hobby of Archery!

What are the differences between the different types of bow?

btw, sorry I spammed your thread, I didn't see the no spam tag.
