Therefor the conclusion would be that the gameworlds of different episodes differ too much from one another. Now let's say that BG3 comes out and the plot would be that the same character is travelling on and would go up from level 40, then that would not make any sense, beacuse if then he went back to the sword coast, he actually would be a god to them, since he's just too powerful. So BG3 can't be the same character continuing his journey, it has to be someone else (another bhaalspawn perhaps) or the same character level drained beyond restoring .
(Assuming of course that BG3 will come out at all, which I'm afraid does not )
The way I look at the BG series. When you reach level 10, your really only one tenth of the way to the real level ten and therefore really your only really level one. Or something like that...
