Evenings and nights to a certain extent are doable, however not too late. As for weekends, no Saturday, but possibly Sunday.
So, let's say that you can log in on Sunday at 2 pm. The time is here the about 7 am... Should be possible. No, It IS possible.
But then, we have Rav. In his country it would be about 5 am.
Okay, just to synchronize our clocks, the time is now a about few minutes to 3 pm here

At 12 noon Aus times it will be
10 am in Malasia
10 pm in East Coast America
7 pm in Central America
5 pm in West Coast
And 5 pm in Finland
Hmm, working around this is sure going to be fun!
*Sigh* crahsed before we even start... (hopefully not)

Yes, it will be a bit difficult, but I hope we can manage that.
And one correction, it's not 5 pm, but 5
am
I'm not living in America, but in Europe
So, just to clear things up, I would ask everybody who are interested to post what time it is in their country when they are posting it. In that way, it would be easy to compare using the time in our own country, the time told in post and the time said in post.
I don't mind doing that calculation, but all I need is that everybody make that post

Oh, and just to add, if you guys have IM, could you post them... it is kinda hard having actual conversations like this over forum...

I just wanted to stop in and say if you needed help with the rules Kipi, feel free to let me know (PM or IM, or here). I was planning on helping Ravager get a grip on them, but ended up sick the past week or so, ruining that.

It does look like you got quite a nice result here of people wanting to start.

I'm interested in seeing how it turns out.

@Kythras I'm using MSN,
dihur_ashavar@hotmail.com But
DON'T but any e-mails there, I don't read those, I use it only for messenger
Okay, so this is what our clocks would be:
(btw, for easy calculating, I'm using 24-hour clock system)
dj_venome: 14.00
Kythras: 14.00
darkwolf: 12.00
Kipi (me

): 7.00
Ravager: 5.00
Chus: 0.00
So IMO it wont be THAT bad problem at weekends. But challenge it is.
@Magrus feel free to join our game
We could use some expert here
So, if Mag joins, then we have six players. That should be enough.

Correction: At the time of your last post Kip, it was 6PM here. It's GMT +1 (until the clocks change next month anyway

)
Wait I've read it properly now. 5AM? Think I'd prefer a little later really.

My MSN is shown under my post count

. And I use that for e-mail too.

Yeah, it will soon change, to me also. So next month it would be for me about 6 and Rav about 4. So we have to make it to start later, or several ours earlier.
And that was more for synchronizing, not the actual starting time
That is another matter, and for me it's also dependable of the day (not just what day of the week it is but also the date)
So, what everybody thinks if I open the thread for characters tomorrow?
I also think that we could use it during game as diary or journal.
So, if everybody agree with me, I think we could do things like thi
- I open the thread
- You send the characters to me via PM
- I put every character to their own posts
- If everything is clear, you just post that it's ok
- If not, then we clear it out via PM or in the thread, as you see fit
- When everybody is ready, I'll start the game-thread
- During games, you can post notes to there, like what you see important or what happened
- I'll put some notes there also, like maps or letters you find, so that you can find them more easily. I think I make one post to beginning where I'll post those kinds of things that are going to be attach´ment
This ok to all?

What I would recommend is that you start a character thread and we post our characters there, then discuss any changes that may be needed on this one, and as we progress we update our characters- e.g. XP and loot.
And you can make a seperate post containing other important items found along the way such as plot-important documents
So pretty much what you've said...

Ravager wrote:What I would recommend is that you start a character thread and we post our characters there, then discuss any changes that may be needed on this one, and as we progress we update our characters- e.g. XP and loot.
Okay, firstly, I was thinking that we keep that thread as clean from anything "unimportant" as possible, ie only character sheets and journal notes/maps and those. It's easier to search information from there that way.
Secondly, I would like to have control over those character sheets myself, reasons are:
-Just to be sure you don't change anything to what it shoudn't be
-While DMing, I can make fast those adjustments to sheets, like affecting spells and such while waiting you replies.
-This is only example, it may or may not happen, but if someone of you get pickpocketed, and the player don't notice, it's easier to me to remove that pickpocketed gold without pointing out that "Hey, you got pickpocketed. Remove 10 gp). It's more realistic when if you get pickpocketed and don't notice, you don't realize you are missing something until you need that item/money. Same goes if I decide you lost something without noticing, it's more easier to me, and IMO funnier to players.
And you can make a seperate post containing other important items found along the way such as plot-important documents

Yes, I meant just that
Okay, so I think we can modify the list from my last post in that way that everybody posts their characters here, with completed information, including name, bio and such, we talk over what must be changed, then I start the thread for characters and notes, copy final characters to that thread, and start the game-thread.
How does this sound?

Yeah, what I meant when I wrote the comment, was that the character gets posted on that thread and we discuss any changes that need to be made on this discussion thread, then edit the character with the changes.
While I would prefer greater control over the information regarding my character I see your point. I suppose it would be possible for players to have their own post in the character thread that has details they consider important (which would be edited rather than more posts piled on top). Just as long as it doesn't conflict with yours.
Can you scan in any of the maps or things when we get to the right point? That could be good.
I'll probably write up 2 characters, one with horse and one w/o and decide which to use closer to the time.

Hmm, if you'd like my help with the campaign, I'll attempt to join. I may be quite busy, and it seems as if the majority of those involved aren't in the US. I'm on the US eastern time zone (GMT -5), so I may not fit into the game. I'm not sure. My work schedule is random, that may come into play as well. If I don't fit in, I'll offer that I can consult with you on things if you need me to, or to go over the character's and see if they're legal and what not. That can be quite a bit of work once you get up to higher level's and figuring things out and all.
Would you like me to prepare a character so you would have a demonstration of a sheet made up and such for the others? I know it's hard keeping track of things as a DM, and doing a character sheet in a certain manner can save you a lot of time in figuring things out during play.

Hi everyone,
I see a lot of things moving already
At the moment i'm trying to go through the reference in ww.d20srd.org to see if i can make sense of things (if possible, maybe i'll choose a cleric?). Now it's 11.45am here in Malaysia...i'm in office atm...
Sorry i'm a bit behind things but i'm not as free as i would have liked <sigh>. It's easier to contact me by GB pm as i don't necessarily check my e-mails often and i don't use messenger...
Cheers! Have a nice day!

Well, whilst I would not deign to call myself an expert, I have been playing D&D for about two and a half years with a group of my mates at school. I have also started Free-Form forum roleplaying, going on about four months now.
From my experience, D&D with people you know personally can be a bit stinted in the RPing department, but Foruming is awesome there, so I look forward to combining the two aspects, hopefully Twaynith will create a bit of... intrest in the party *evil grin*
@darkwolf
If you have any queries about the rules, don't hesitate to contact me, as our time zones are quite close...

So I'm probably going to be a paladin, Kythras a ranger, darkwolf a cleric and dj a sorcerer. That's a good mix of characters
And of course, add Magrus if we sort that time issue out.
I'm probably going to go for an Aasimar using the rules on the Savage Races website.
First off, roll a 4d6 6 times.
See how my luck is...
This is good

:
15 (5+2+5+3)- take out the lowest (2) = 13
15 (6+4+1+4) = 14
13 (3+6+3+1) = 12
13 (4+2+5+2) = 11
18 (6+3+6+3) = 15
18 " " "
STR - 15
(+2)
CON - 15
(+2)
DEX - 11 (0)
INT - 12
(+1)
WIS - 13 (will have +2 on lvl 2)
(+2)
CHA - 14 (+2 for Aasimar - 16)
(+3)
Paladin special abilities: Aura of good, detect evil, smite evil 1/day
Skill points to position: (2+1)x4= 12
Considering not having a mount yet. At 5th level the Paladin can summon one.
