Hmmm...I am a history teacher at a prep school, and I'm *gasp* 51. I can remember when the original D&D rules came out and I dismissed them as a mere fad. As for other RPG's, certainly the Fallout games might well appeal to someone who likes BG2. I still am very fond of Daggerfall, myself.

Thomas: I believe games will choose their players. Games like BG2 rarely has players under 16. BG2 is way too long(complex?) and boring(not enough blood) for them to play. I'm not saying this is the case for all under 16, but this seems like the case for most of them. If you go to blizzard or related site, you'll get as much flaming as you can get.

I'm a sales in auto parts. BG2 almost got me fired. I played day/night thru the weekend (I was on my first run thru the game), and I totally forgot the monthly sales report meeting... Worse thing was I almost doze off when my manager was giving his ever-same speech. I can't imagine what'll happen if I can get my old pals to play this game with me (they're way too busy to play anything online now...). I probably get them fired :P

Geez. You guys are old. I've been into these games all my life. If they'd had BG2 when I was ten, I would have been playing it. As it seems to be the sort of thing mathematicians are into, I bet most would be able to handle the complexity at a young age.
Me, I'm 19 and a physics\mathematics\astronomy student, but astronomy doesn't hold much hope of employment in New Zealand (I think we have three paid astronomers.)
For those looking for other good games, I thought Fallout 2 was the best game I ever played. This is a contender. Fallout doesn't have as good character options, but it's the best game in the world for atmosphere and story line.

Are there any shadow runners in here? This has been my rpg of choice for many years now. A magic system that works! and a very free character creation system. And none of that alignment crap, you act according to the background you have created.

You realise Hazim if you do write that paper then you will have to give a nod to me and Maurice the super spammers of the world unite! Image

Nice subject BTW it is pleasant to see a board that responds well to the personality of others. I must be one of the youngest people on the board, it is immensely gratifying to be on the same par as college professors.

I think it's cool that you "older" guys (I'm in the twenties) still enjoy computer games. I know that I still will be playing even if I get old (still a little playing child inside most guys no matter what age I guess)

I my self am an accountant (boring nerd??)

So Crovax, small world ... I always thought it had a diameter of about 6,000 kilometers (somewhat more), and therefor an equatorial length of about 40,000 kilometers ... so I'd expect people to come from everywhere to this forum. But there are at least five or six Dutch people active ... nice!

What do you study??

I'm a economic student in Denmark, but this summer, I hope to finish my B.sc and start studying computers/programming.

I started playing some RPG on my magnum 286 10 mHz with 1 MB RAM.
Phantashia or some thing like that :-)
Also played Eye of the Beholder 1-3 a lot.

Greetings to all veteran Computer RPG players in this forum. I am almost 30 and i miss the spare time i had back then as a student to play computer games. Now,as an engineer,i don't have the luxury to spend so many hours in great games like BG2.
