old fart
Just for grins, I was checking the profiles of some of the regulars, and almost everyone lists their occupation as "student." Am I the only person over 30 on this forum? If my wife finds out, I'll never get laid again!

Does it really matter if your wife finds out? You can still play BGII, won't you?
... at least I can say - I've lived

Actually, I'm a college professor, which keeps me pretty busy. So I don't get to play as often as I'd like. Not really a game fan, except the infinity engine games. My brother in law bought me BGI way back when because he knew I used to play PnP D&D. It hooked me, and I've been a junky of the series (including PS:T and IWD) since then. Can anyone recommend any other games in this genre I should try? I gave a crack at Diablo but found it pretty dull. I prefer a richer role-playing environment. Suggestions?

Hazim:
Actually I'm a 30 year college faculty member too.
As for other games in the genre, I really haven't played any. All of them received such bad reviews, I never slapped down my $$ to play them myself. The only other game I play on a regular basis is Half-Life (Counter Strike). And that probably won't do it for ya.

Heey ... wow, you guys are really old
nope, just kidding. I just always thought that I was one of the oldest in here (I don't know why?). Turns out, some of you guys are more than 10 years ahead of me, not that it's a bad thing or anything. I want to able to keep my head high and play games even when I'm really old (~60?). I don't know if I qualify as a nerd though ... probably. Anyway, keep up the good work

My confession: I'm a 42-year-old University Professor. If my wife found out about this secret hobby, my meat would be dead meat. If my colleagues found out, my reputation would be toast.
Actually, getting laid is a bit of a problem even in the game when you are an uncharismatic dwarf, as I am (in the game, that is, not real life).

Damn! How many profs are playing BGII?!?! I teach film, broadcasting and digital media and my love of the infinity games has seriously got me thinking about writing a research paper on narrative structure in computer role-playing games.
Actually, I got the whim the other night that an interesting project I might put on the long-term back-burner might be a book with the following title: "Twenty-Sided-Die: A (sub)Cultural History of Dungeons and Dragons" Whaddaya think?

Damned, i accidently put up a new topic, trying to send an answer to this one (brandnew - shining! - user, you see) so... well, anyway. I just wanted to state me being 32, Jurnalist, and loving to play RPG's in the BG2 style and TB strategy games... and wondering, if there are female BG2 players... (told ya, not been around this forum too long...)

Omar, the secret life of professors is one that students rarely understand. But then, astrophysicists are typically a dull, narrow-minded lot. Just kidding; I think most of the self-proclaimed "nerds" on this board can appreciate that our culture undervalues intellectual excitement. I watched a documentary on Noam Chomsky the other night, and I found it much more exciting than any Hollywood feature I've seen recently. Just excitement of a different kind. Most simply don't understand. That's why they try to pigeonhole us as nerds, correct?
