Ghehehe any1 noticed nobody has mentioned the druid or bard yet? :D

I think the sorceror is the most powerful single character, he doesn't have to prepare his spells which is a huge advantage.

But I think the cleric is more usefull as a "supportive" character, healing spells, resurrections etc... are esential for a party.

I always include a sorceror (for the real blast), a wizz (for all the usefull scrolls) and cleric (for being a great mage/fighter) in my parties.

In NWN (and in fact in 3E) Clerics also rock, not a support class at all (even though can be used to heal). It is hard to tell which one is the best, especially if we consider the possibilites of multi-classing and feat choices.
The best all-around caster is probably a Paladin/Sorcerer (1/x) or a Paladin/Cleric (1/x). The Monk/Druid(1/x) also looks interesting, though not as versatile as the previous ones.

Sounds mighty interesting, but I can't exactly see the advantage of these combinations right away... Care to enlighten me?

Generally spellcasters shouldn't be multiclassed, because they receive their best spells in the end. But 1-2 level of some "front loaded" classes can still worth it.
Paladin gives stable starting class and also adds a CHA bonus to saving throws with divine grace which combines especially for the sorcerer.
Monk gives WIS bonus to AC and a couple of other useful feat for a shapeshifting druid.

The other way around offers more potential, perhaps. A warrior taking a single level of Sorcerer doesn't lose out on as much as a Sorcerer taking a single level of Paladin. One level of Sorcerer gives a decent number of reasonably useful spells per day.

I think warriors have better multiclass possibilites than 1 level of sorcerer. But it is a bit offtopic as neither can be called the "most powerful spellcaster".

i personaly think that diffrent situations could change my view on most powerful

and priests would get my vote but thats just because they get to wear armor and can use better weapons than the mages

but if you really mean spellcaster as only there spell ability i would go for sorc's
