What is your Dexterity score? I thinks it is high and you get the higher initiative roll and thats why you hit them first. And you comprehend it as free attacks.
in other words initiative is based on dex?
what is the standard initiative base then?

I'm not sure but the base value can be 1. The initiative check is 1d20 + Dex modifier + any other modifiers.

I think he means that in NWN, even if somehow an enemy gets better initiative, if he's not close enough you might get an attack whether or not you have a higher initiative.

But that fact is actually due to the movement speed requiring 30 ft of movement per round, not the initiative.

And in NWN sometimes it seems like Initiative is handled oddly. Things are happening in real time, that might be why.
