Real life quotes, not really funny I suppose:

An American man in Rome:

"It's so fascinating with all the old buildings you have here in Europe. I mean, look at the Colossem, it must be a thousand years old!"

A guy arguing with an my English friend:

"Are you from England or Great Britain? Anyway, I hate your stupid president George W Bush!"

@CE: LOL :D I know similar one...

My friend was on a bus in Edinburgh and heard following.

An American tourist pointed at the castle and said to his mate: "Look! That's fantastic! But I can't understand why they built a castle so close to the railway station..."
"Strength without wisdom falls by its own weight."

@Minerva, it's all too true. I DM'd over in an online game for a few years, one that's set in a pseudo-medieval fantasy universe. We had a player who posted on our boards that he thought we should be more realistic, and instead of just putting various shops in different medieval towns, stick 'em inside malls. :rolleyes:

When I finished high school (going back some time here....)I spent a year in an Immersion programme in the French part of Switzerland.
Due my heritage (although English is my first language)I have a quirky British/Dutch/German accent.
Well, one day while in town an American family enquired if I spoke English and then asked for directions. I replied that I did speak English and gave them the info they required.
Upon thanking me, they said, "We really must compliment you on your excellent ability with the language, have you been studying it long?"

Does anyone know the famous "Voltaire" quote...something like:

I don't agree with what you are saying,
but I would defend your right to say it with my life
“Child abuse doesn’t have to mean broken bones and black marks. Young growing tissues are far more vulnerable to carcinogens than those of adults.
Knowingly subjecting children to it is child abuse.”
