I like this Billy Joel song...Keeping the Faith

Keeping the Faith

If it seems like I've been lost
In let's remember
If you think I'm feeling older
And missing my younger days
Oh, then you should have known
Me much better
Cause my past is something that never
Got in my way
Oh no

Still I would not be here now
If I never had the hunger
And I'm not ashamed to say
The wild boys were my friends
Oh
Cause I never felt the desire
'Til their music set me on fire
And then I was saved, yeah
That's why I'm keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith

We wore matador boots
Only Flagg Brothers had them with the Cuban heel
Iridescent socks with the same color shirt
And a tight pair of chinos
Oh
I put on my shark skin jacket
You know the kind with the velvet collar
And ditty-bop shades
Oh yeah
I took a fresh pack of Luckies
And a mint called Sen-Sen
My old man's Trojans
And his Old Spice after shave
Oh
Combed my hair in a pompadour
Like the rest of the Romeos wore
A permanent wave
Yeah
We were keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith

You can get just so much
From a good thing
You can linger too long
In your dreams
Say goodbye to the
Oldies but goodies
Cause the good ole days weren't
Always good
And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems

Learned stickball as a formal education
Lost a lot of fights
But it taught me how to lose O.K.
Oh
I heard about sex
But not enough
I found you could dance
And still look tough anyway
Oh yes I did
I found out a man ain't just being macho
Ate an awful lot of late night drive-in food
Drank a lot of take-home pay
I thought I was the Duke of Earl
When I made it with a red-haired girl
In the Chevrolet
Oh yeah
We were keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith

You know the good ole days weren't
Always good
And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems

Now I told you my reasons
For the whole revival
Now I'm going outside to have
An ice cold beer in the shade

Oh
I'm going to listen to my 45's
Ain't it wonderful to be alive
When the rock 'n' roll plays
Yeah
When the memory stays
Yeah
I'm keeping the faith

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith
I'm keeping the faith
Yes I am

This is from Manowar latest album. It nimbly rose up on my favorites rank.

Swords in the Wind

I surrender my soul, Odin hear my call
One day I'll sit beside your throne in Valhalla's great hall
Like so many before me I'll die with honor and pride
The right of a warrior, forever to fight by your side

Send a sign, raise the sail, wave a last goodbye
Destiny is calling, immortality be mine

Call the witch to cast the runes, weave a magic spell
We who die in battle are born not for heaven, not for hell

We are sons of Odin, the fire we burn inside
Is the legacy of warrior-kings who reign above in the sky

I will lead the charge, my sword into the wind
Sons of Odin fight to die and live again
Viking ships cross the sea, in cold wind and rain
Sail into the black of night, magic stars our guiding light

Today the blood of battle upon my weapons will never dry
Many I'll send into the ground laughing as they die

Place my body on a ship and burn it in the sea
Let my spirit rise, Valkyries carry me
Take me to Valhalla where my brothers wait for me
Fire burning to the sky, my spirit will never die

Well I was watching some documentary on London yesterday, and this song did come to mind more then once. ;)

London Still- The Waifs

Wondering if the pick up line accent on the phone
And I call across the country and I call across the room
And I see you in my kitchen I picture you now
As you toast to your small town and you drink the happy hour

I'm in London still
I'm in London still
I'm in London, still

I took the tube up again to wander around
I bought some funky records with that old motown sound
And I miss you like my left arm that's been lost in a war
Today I dream of home and not of London anymore

But I'm in London still
I'm in London still
I'm in London still

And now its okay I'm kinda happy here for now
I think I finally grown up and got myself a lover now
And if I ever come home and I think I will
I hope your gonna wanna hang at my place on sunday still
Oh yeah I hope you will

Cos I'm in London still
I'm in London still
London still
I'm in london still

And now I got it sorted here
I've really got it down
Fine arts on sunday in a sleepy sunday town
I wonder what I'm missing I think its something that I heard
Dreaming of your voices I'm dreaming of your hurt
But I'm in London still
I'm in London still
I'm in London, still
I'm in London still
London still
I'm in London still

Here is one of the many Talking Heads songs that I like. It is one of their bigger hits, and it is a typical strange yet comical songs that they did, with a good beat aswell. I dont know how many people know of the Talking Heads, but its not only their unique yet good music that made them good. The song: Once In A Lifetime.

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful
wife
And you may ask yourself-Well...How did I get here?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...

Water dissolving...and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Carry the water at the bottom of the ocean
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right?...Am I wrong?
And you may tell yourself
MY GOD!...WHAT HAVE I DONE?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...

This song is called "Wake Up" by Rage Against the Machine. They are one of my favorite groups, I especially love the guitar work by Tom Morello.

Although ya try to discredit
Ya still never edit
The needle, I'll thread it
Radically poetic
Standin' with the fury that they had in '66
And like E-Double I'm mad
Still knee-deep in the system's ****
Hoover, he was a body remover
I'll give ya a dose
But it'll never come close
To the rage built up inside of me
Fist in the air, in the land of hypocrisy

Movements come and movements go
Leaders speak, movements cease
When their heads are flown
'Cause all these punks
Got bullets in their heads
Departments of police, the judges, the feds
Networks at work, keepin' people calm
You know they went after King
When he spoke out on Vietnam
He turned the power to the have-nots
And then came the shot

Wit' poetry, my mind I flex
Flip like Wilson, vocals never lackin' dat finesse
Whadda I got to, whadda I got to do to wake ya up
To shake ya up, to break the structure up
'Cause blood still flows in the gutter
I'm like takin' photos
Mad boy kicks open the shutter
Set the groove
Then stick and move like I was Cassius
Rep the stutter step
Then bomb a left upon the fascists
Yea, the several federal men
Who pulled schemes on the dream
And put it to an end

Ya better beware
Of retribution with mind war
20/20 visions and murals with metaphors

Networks at work, keepin' people calm
Ya know they murdered X
And tried to blame it on Islam
He turned the power to the have-nots
And then came the shot
What was the price on his head

The newer CD's are different from the older ones (find the difference later if you want), and I have witnessed some incompatibilty issues with older stereos. That could be it ;)

The only woman I'd consider having sex with... ;)

Shirley Manson in Garbage:

Temptation Waits

I'll tell you something
I am a wolf but I like to wear sheep's clothing

I am a bonfire
I am a vampire
I'm waiting for my moment

You come on like a drug
I just can't get enough
I'm like an addict coming at you for a little more
And there's so much at stake
I can't afford to wait
I never needed anybody like this before

I'll tell you something
I am a demon
Some say my biggest weakness

I have my reasons
Call it my defense
Be careful what you're wishing

You come on like a drug
I just can't get enough
I'm like an addict coming at you for a little more
And there's so much at stake
I can't afford to wait
I never needed anybody like this before

You are a secret
I need possession
I like to keep you guessing

You come on like a drug
I just can't get enough
I'm like an addict coming at you for a little more
And there's so much at stake
I can't afford to wait
I never needed anybody like this before

When i'm not sure what i'm living for
When I'm not sure what I'm looking for
When I'm not sure what I'm living for
When I'm not sure what I'm looking for
When I'm not sure what I'm living for
When I'm not sure what I'm looking for
When I'm not sure what I'm living for
bring me up

As sung by Connie Dover
lyrics by Padraic Colum

When first I saw you,
I saw beauty,
And I blinded my eyes
For fear that I should weep.
When first I heard you,
I heard sweetness,
And I turned away,
For fear of my weakness.
I blinded my eyes,
My face I turned away,
I hardened my heart.
For fear of my ruin.

My Favourite Game (by the Cardigans)
(Lyrics by Persson)

I don't know what you're looking for
you haven't found it baby, that's for sure
You rip me up and spread me all around
in the dust of the deed of time
And this is not a case of lust, you see
it's not a matter of you versus of me
It's fine the way you want me on your own
but in the end it's always me alone
And I'm losing my favourite game
you're losing your mind again
I'm losing my babay
losing my favourite game
I only know what I've been working for
another you so I could love you more
I really thought that I could take you there
but my experiment is not getting us anywhere
I had a vision I could turn you right
a stupid mission and a lethal fight
I should have seen it when my hope was new
my heart is black and my body is blue
And I'm losing my favourite game
you're losing your mind again
I'm losing my favourite game
I've tried but you're still the same
I'm losing my baby
you're losing a saviour and a saint

Touring the states soon, go and give them a listen if they stop nearby. ;)

Comfort Me - Pacifier

Inside, I'm all twisted around feeling uptight
and I can't come down
And I need someone to tell me
I'll be safe again
And I need someone to tell me
That they really care

What have we become
Could you comfort me, comfort me
The whole world's come undone
Could you comfort me, comfort me

Back up, evolution here
All the sick ****s
Being born to kill
They just need someone to tell them
They're safe again
They all need someone to tell them
That somebody cares

You're going to bring the world down
The whole world down

A look at Weasel at the age of 18. :D (Girlfriend at the time hated this song :D :D )

Sung by Carly Simon

Lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager

Nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you
Baby you're the best

I wasn't looking but somehow you found me
I tried to hide from your love light
But like heaven above me, the spy who loved me
Is keeping all my secrets safe tonight

And nobody does it better
Sometimes I wish someone would
Nobody does it half as good as you
Why'd you have to be so good

The way that you hold me, whenever you hold me
There's some kind of magic inside you
That keeps me from running, but just keep it coming
How'd you learn to do the things you do

And nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it quite the way you do
Baby, baby
Baby you're the best
Baby you're the best
Baby you're the best
Baby you're the best

"Daffodil Lament", by the Cranberries.

Holding on, that's what I do since I met you.
And it won't be long. Would you notice if I left you?
And it's fine for some 'cause you're not the one,
You're not the one there...
There... there... there... there... there...

All night long, laid on my pillow,
These things are wrong.
I can't sleep here!

So lovely, so lovely, so lovely.

I have decided to leave you forever.
I have decided to start things from here.
Thunder and lightning won't change,
What I'm feeling and the daffodils look lovely today,
And the daffodils look lovely today,
Look lovely today.

Ooh, in your eyes I can see the disguise.
Ooh, in your eyes I can see the disguise.
Has anyone seen lightning?
Has anyone looked lovely?
And the daffodils look lovely today,
And the daffodils look lovely today,
Look lovely today...

Look lovely, [X 9]

Na, na. Na, na na na...

@Kam, yes, excellent lyrics to Talk Show Host...it's a mean dirty one alright :) BTW, have you got any MP3s of their new songs? I have only found them on one sight, but it is Portugese and bugged right up with errors etc...

Umm...the best Radiohead lyrics are...ummm....probably Optimistic, but it's quite long and I'm sure noone would bother reading it...so you can have:

Spinning Plates (lyrics IIRC)

While you make pretty speeches
I'm being cut to shreds.

You feed me to the lions -
A delicate balance.

And this just feels like spinning plates
I'm living in cloud cuckoo land

This still feels like spinning plates
Our bodies floating down the muddy river.

Well, I do have an excellent copy of every new song that they've done on the Spain/Portugal tour...on my other hard drive. This hard drive is currently completely buggered, when I get my Dad's CD-RW plugged into this machine I'm going to try and rescue everything that I can from it, including ftp account addresses etc. Right now your best bet is to go to http://www.ateaseweb.com and it's forums, which are I believe the largest Radiohead forums out there, and ask there. There's one FTP site called injektilo's, but it's always full - another I found to be good had the username/password radiohead//headradio, but I don't remember the IP for it...I'll go and look now.

EDIT - If you can get yourself any gig, I would get the 7th of August one if at all possible - it was widely regarded as the best, especially as they did about 5/6 requests in the middle of their set... :D

EDIT 2 - Try here with a program like FlashFXP:
131.155.229.152
radiohead/headradio

EDIT 3 - Or you could go here for all the tracks in RealAudio (yuk) format: http://www.geocities.com/audiothief/

EDIT 4 - Jackpot: http://pwp.netcabo.pt/ruimiguelmr/radio ... ead_pt.htm and click "Downloads" at the top of the page.

Bring the Peace
Words and music by Mary McLaughlin
Is it true that you've come back, is it true that you're here
Is is true after all this time the cycle's complete
And have you brought the wisdom that we had, then lost
Oh have you brought the peace that we've been aching for.

Is it true you've been waiting for your chance to come
Is it true that you're coming now, like song on the wind
And have you brought the wisdom that we lost when found
Oh have you brought the peace as balm for our wounds

Is is true you knew the answers when you were last here
There was no one in this land who couldn't hear
So bring us back the wisdome we were forced to let go
Oh bring us back the peace to feed our hungry souls.

Repeat Verse One

Oh can you bring the peace that we're all aching for
Oh can you bring the peace that we're all aching for
Oh can you bring the peace...

It's amazing how many guys actually played this for their girlfriends as an expression of thier love :D

You're All I Need......Motley Crue

The blade of my knife
Faced away from your heart
Those last few nights
It turned and sliced you apart
This love that I tell
Now feels lonely as hell
From this padded prison cell

So many times I said
You'd only be mine
I gave my blood and my tears
And loved you cyanide
When you took my lips
I took your breath
Sometimes love's better off dead

You're all I need, make you only mine
I loved you so I set you free
I had to take your life
You're all I need, you're all I need
And I loved you but you didn't love me

Laid out cold
Now we're both alone
But killing you helped me keep you home
I guess it was bad
Cause love can be sad
But we finally made the news

Tied up smiling
I thought you were happy
Never opened your eyes
I thought you were napping
I got so much to learn
About love in this world
But we finally made the news

You're all I need, make you only mine
I loved you so, so I put you to sleep

Irish Drinking

For all you irish fans here is some lyrics to a GREAT IRISH band.
Known as The Dropkick Murphys

Boys On The Dock
- Lyrics: Casey, Music: Barton -

"Dedicated to the memory of John Kellyā€¯

Chorus: Say hey johnny boy, the battle call United we stand, divided we fall Together we are what we can't be alone We came to this country you made it our home

This man so humble, this man so brave A legend to many, he fought to his grave Saved family and friends from the hardship and horror In a land of depression he gave hope for tomorrow

Say johnny boy this ones for you With the strength of many and the courage of few To what do we owe this man who's fight Was for the masses, he gave his life

(chorus)

A friend to the locals who dabbled in crime He'd give you a job and he'd give you his time He wasn't a crook but he couldn't be conned John knew the difference between right and wrong Say johnny me boy, you live hear no longer Others forgotten, your memories stronger Lets drink to the causes in your life Your family, your friends, the union, your wife

(chorus)

And the boys on the docks needed john for sure When they came to this country he opened the door He said men I'll tell ya they don't like our kind Though it starts with a fist it must end with your mind

(chorus)

Another one by Garbage - for Dottie

I Think I'm Paranoid

You can look but you can't touch
I don't think I like you much
Heaven knows what a girl can do
Heaven knows what you got to prove

I think I'm paranoid
It's complicated
I think I'm paranoid
Manipulate it

Bend me break me
Anyway you need me
All I want is you
Bend me break me
Breaking down is easy
All I want is you

I fall down just to give you a thrill
So prop me up with another pill
If I should fail If I should fold
I nailed my faith to the sticking pole

I think I'm paranoid
Manipulate it
I think I'm paranoid
Too complicated

Bend me break me
Anyway you need me
All I want is you
Bend me break me
Breaking down is easy
All I want is you

I think I'm paranoid
I think I'm paranoid

Bend me break me
Anyway you need me
All I want is you
Bend me break me
Breaking down is easy
All I want is you

Steal me deal me
Anyway you heal me
Main me tame me
You can never change me
Love me like me
Go ahead and fight me
Please me tease me
Go ahead and leave me

Bend me break me
Anyway you need me
As long as I want you
Baby it's alright
Bend me break me
Anyway you need me
As long as I want you
Baby it's alright
