Decision by Goldfinger. These apply to me recently, so I listen to it a lot lol. I sent the words to my ex-gf (as of 2 days ago :( ). Read em and you'll get it lol.

This time you should know
Like the first time that
I saw you there alone
Like the first time that
I knew you were my own

The way you made me feel
Like I was something that
You couldn't live without
Like I was someone that
You couldn't be without

Something came in between us
Something made a change in you
What can I do?

So you made your decision
I guess it's you that I'll be missin'
I lie alone in bed just wishin'
That I had been the one
That I had been the one

This time you should know
The way you made me feel
So helpless and alone
Erase the memories
Of all we've ever known

Something came in between us
Something made us break in two
What can I do?

So you made your decision
I guess it's you that I'll be missin'
I lie alone in bed just wishin'
That I had been the one
That I had been the one

Now I think I'm goin' crazy
Now you're stuck inside my head
I don't ever wanna feel this way again

When you look in the mirror
Does it all seem clear to you?
Have I been used?

So you made your decision
It won't be me that you'll be missin'
I lie alone in bed just wishin'
That I had been the one
That I had been the one

So you made your decision
I guess it's you that I'll be missin'
I lie alone in bed just wishin'
That I had been the one
That I had been the one
I need a sig.

@CE Interesting. You pick David Bowie, which I like a couple songs from-dont know that song. And Peter Gabriel which I like quite a few songs from
The Bowie song I posted is from the album The man who sold the world, which has excellent lyrics, like most of his early 1970's stuff. I am not really a fan of Peter Gabriel, but he has written many good lyrics with social and political messages.

@Robnark: The message? That's one of my all time favorites in the genre, I have all the 80's Grandmaster Flash & Melle Mel stuff.

Here's another nice one from Bowie:

Big Brother

Don't talk of dust and roses
Or should we powder our noses?
Don't live for last year's capers
Give me steel, give me steel, give me pulsars unreal

He'll build a glass asylum
With just a hint of mayhem
He'll build a better whirlpool
We'll be living from sin, then we can really begin
Please savior, saviour, show us
Hear me, I'm graphically yours

Someone to claim us, someone to follow
Someone to shame us, some brave Apollo
Someone to fool us, someone like you
We want you Big Brother, Big Brother

I know you think you're awful square
But you made everyone and you've been every where
Lord, I'd take an overdose if you knew what's going down

Someone to claim us, someone to follow
Someone to shame us, some brave Apollo
Someone to fool us, someone like you
We want you Big Brother, Big Brother
We want you Big Brother

And one from Björk I sort of identify with this one

Pluto

Excuse me
but i just have to
explode

explode this body
off me

wake-up tomorrow
brand new
a little tired
but brand new

@Ode: Dolores O'Riordan has a great voice!
To be frank, the mental images here just keep on getting better and better... :D Even without having seen any bimbo dress photos... ;)

I think the thing that got me the most interested in The Cranberries is the sheer skill (and the fact that it's put to good use) of the bass guitarist. The rest of the band are very talented IMO, but the bass in some of their songs just blows me away.

Yes, Dolores has a fantastic voice...however, I don't really rate their albums apart from Hope Is Important. I believ it's their most popular, and much as I would like to have a more obscure favourite, it is the best :) .

My favourite Bjork song:

Pedalling through
The dark currents
I find
An accurate copy
A blueprint
Of the pleasure
In me

Swirling black lilies totally ripe
A secret code carved
Swirling black lilies totally ripe
A secret code carved

He offers
A handshake
Crooked
Five fingers
They form a pattern
Yet to be matched

On the surface simplicity
But the darkest pit in me
It's pagan poetry
Pagan poetry

Morsecoding signals
They pulsate and wake me up
from my hibernating

On the surface simplicity
Swirling black lilies totally ripe
But the darkest pit in me
It's pagan poetry
Swirling black lilies totally ripe
Pagan poetry

Swirling black lilies totally ripe

I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
She loves him, she loves him

This time
She loves him, she loves him
I'm gonna keep it to myself
She loves him, she loves him
She loves him, she loves him
This time
I'm gonna keep me all to myself
She loves him, she loves him
And he makes me want to hurt myself again
She loves him, she loves him
She loves him, she loves him
And he makes me want to hurt myself again

@CE - How do you rate Bowie's Wild Is The Wind vs Simone's?

EDIT - so the Cranberries are big elsewhere? I believe they are the only Irish band to have a number one album in the UK....that may not betrue though...Also I watched a movie called 'Clueless' on TV the other day (about 1993 I think) and someone in that was listening to the Cranberries... And it's American! Anyway...

So who's better, Dolores or Skin?

I have the feeling I will one day regret my previous posts....

@Frogus: I actually don't like Cranberries a lot musically, I just like Dolores voice. It wouldn't matter what she sang, it'd still sound fanatastic. Maybe U2 have had a UK no 1 at some point? Sleep usually knows this kind of things! Cranberries are quite big all over Europe AFAIK, some of their big hits where very internationally popular (ie Zombie, Linger). I personally prefer Dolores above Skin.

Re Wild is the wind: I can't really rate the different versions since I aboslutely don't like the song....

You don't like Wild Is The Wind? I am shocked  . I love both versions...I seem to be somewhat lonely though, as AFAIK the Bowie version is not highly thought of :( . Nina Simone singing ' I hear the sound of mandolins...' always gives me shivers down the spine  . Her version is incredibly haunting, but IMO the Bowie version is more emotional and more ernest, if somewhat less vocally virtuous :)

@Frog: To your consolation, I can tell you many of my friends love Bowie's Wild is the wind, so you are not alone. I agree Bowie's version is more emotional than Simone's - come to think of it I actually prefer Bowie's version, I am not very fond of Nina Simone's voice even if she is technically good...

Another one for Dottie ;) also by the lovely Shirley Manson

I'm only happy when it rains
I'm only happy when it's complicated
And though I know you can't appreciate it
I'm only happy when it rains
You know I love it when the news is bad
Why it feels so good to feel so sad
I'm only happy when it rains

Pour your misery down
Pour your misery down on me
Pour your misery down
Pour your misery down on me

I'm only happy when it rains
I feel good when things are going wrong
I only listen to the sad, sad songs
I'm only happy when it rains

I only smile in the dark
My only comfort is the night gone black
I didn't accidentally tell you that
I'm only happy when it rains
You'll get the message by the time I'm through
When I complain about me and you
I'm only happy when it rains

Pour your misery down...pour your misery down
Pour your misery down on me...pour your misery down
You can keep me company
As long as you don't care

I'm only happy when it rains
You want to hear about my new obsession
I'm riding high upon a deep depression
I'm only happy when it rains...pour some misery down on me
I'm only happy when it rains....pour some misery down on me

Well here is the complete lyrics to one of the songs thats in my current sig: The song is: "Here" by V.A.S.T (Visual Audio Sensory Theatre)

Here

Where do I put the shame?
It feels like a broken toy
I can't play with
Anymore
Where do I put the hate?
To a pixilated screen
I can't watch anymore
All I know is that
I'm here drifting
Somewhere in the vast
Somewhere in eternity
And
I never want to leave
Where do I put the books
There's so many I could read
But
They all are filled
With lies
Where do I put the lies
There's so many I could say
But
It seems they're
In the books
I have faith that
You're out there living high
Up in the vast
Somewhere in eternity
And
You're never going to leave
Have I been telling
Lies to myself?
Hold me now you know
I am so afraid
To be at all
Have I been telling
Lies to myself?
Hold my now you know
I am so afraid to love at all
Where do I put the love?
Where do I put the love?
“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.

More Kinks -- because they are the BEST!

Expectations

Now all the lies are beginning to show,
And you're not the country that I used to know.
I loved you once from my head to my toe,
But now my belief is shaken.

And all your ways are so untrue,
No one breaks promises the way that you do.
You guided me, I trusted you,
But now my illusion's shaken.

Thought this empire would be here
At least a thousand years.
But all the expectations and aspirations,
Slowly disappear.

Now all the lies have gone on too long,
And a million apologies can't right the wrong.
Soldiers die but the lies go on,
But soon we will awaken.

In our expectations for the future,
We were not to know.
We had expectations, now we've reached
As far as we can go.

And all your manners are too, too polite,
Just to prove that your conscious is white and bright.
You had your day so get ready for the night,
For another dawn is breaking.

We had expectations, now we've reached
As far as we can go.

Peace.

Well this is one of my favorite songs. Its lyrics are quite depressing and it actually caused some people to commit suicide. But I still like it.

Fade To Black By Metallica

Life it seems, will fade away
Drifting further everyday
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone

“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.

Song lyrics...

Exerpt from Senser, Age of Panic

your birthright is a world of insanity;
disconnected legacy
and you will never see
an end to the global savagery.
Continuing to feed your desire for more
but deep down you know the truth
you'll never find what you're looking for.
It's gone and you can't buy it back
and now your senses are under attack.
So you act automatic
and turn to the frantic
nation of addicts.
Reduced to the manic, false erratic
solemn doped up slaves and servants of greed
because you were -
BORN INTO THE AGE OF PANIC.

Exerpt from Senser, switch

You're gonna say how did it ever get this far
when all I ever wanted was a house and a car.
Now Moma's in the backroom serving up rocks,
Daddy's in Wandsworth sitting in a box.
Listen to the click of the steel as it locks.
The real enemies are in the corporate office blocks.

Exerpt from Senser, Whats going on

See, a wish on a dish or a coin on a plate
is no ticket to heaven or any such state
and I relate, the symptoms of this society,
to which lack of sobriety a wide variety of factors...

They think the world is a stage,
so they've all become actors.

From Everlast, So long

I knew a man with a son
He bought him a gun
And learned Shorty just how to use it
Taught him huntin' and skinnin'
Right from the beginnin'
Built himself a mighty fine killer
But Shorty got picked on
Beat on and kicked on
Now all his classmates want to punk him
So the tears in his eye may catch him in the rye
Told his old man he went huntin'

Never felt so free
Like his destiny
Lay somewhere out on the horizon
His heart it went cold, he felt a hundred years old
As started pullin' back on the trigger

I think I'm gonna die today
Everyone who hurt me's gonna pay
How can such a short time feel so long?
How can such a young life go so wrong?

AC/DC : Ride on

It's another lonely evening
And another lonely town
But I ain't too young to worry
And I ain't too old to cry
When a woman gets me down.
Got another empty bottle
And another empty bed
Ain't too young to admit it
And I'm not too old to lie
I'm just another empty head.

That's why I'm lonely
I'm so lonely
But I know what I'm gonna do -
I'm gonna ride on
Ride on
Ride on
Standing on the edge of the road
Ride on
Thumb in the air
Ride on
One of these days
Ride on
I'm gonna change my evil ways
Ride on
Till then I'll just keep riding on.

Broke another promise
And I broke another heart
But I ain't too young to realize
That I ain't too old to try
Try to get back to the start
And it's another red light nightmare
Another red light street
And I ain't too old to hurry
Cause I ain't too old to die
But I sure am hard to beat.

That's why I'm lonely
I'm so lonely
But I know what I'm gonna do -
I'm gonna ride on
Ride on
Ride on
Standing on the edge of the road
Ride on
Thumb in the air
Ride on
One of these days
Ride on
I'm gonna change my evil ways
Ride on
Till then I'll just keep riding on.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd: Deja Voodoo

Needles in my heart, spell on my mind,
your powerful potion gets me every time
I toss and turn, I can't sleep at night,
your kiss burns, through my dreams

(Chorus :)
Here it comes again,
I don't stand a chance
Soul possession,
Got me in a trance
Pullin' me back, back to you
Deja voodoo

Fire in the dark, pounding in my brain,
driven by the chant calling out my name
I toss and turn, I can't sleep,
your kiss burns, through my dreams

Needles in my heart, spell on my mind,
your powerful potion gets me every time
I toss and turn, I can't sleep at night,
your kiss burns, through my dreams

Here it comes again,
I don't stand a chance
Soul possession,
got me in a trance
Pullin' me back, Yeah back to you
Deja voodoo

Well, Dems all some O' my favourites

I just love this band :o :D

"Die, All Right!"- The Hives

Hey! I've got a message and tonight and Im gonna send it.
Yeah! I had a body and men with knives wanted to lend it.
Sold my body to the company so I got the money now away I go.
And I say thank you Mr CEO.

Hey! I've got some money and tonight Im gonna spend it.
Yeah! They gave me a paper and I went ahead and penned it
And I say thank you Mr CEO.

I filled my pockets now I might as well - Die!
Cause I found the backdoor out of teenage hell - all right!
Filed my account cause I might in fact - Die!
But I rely on science, yeah to bring me back - all right.
I.....'m gonna die....
Heavy morals seem so light but when it comes to cash I'm gonna die all right!

Hey! I lost the money seems like I can't comprehend it.
Yeah! Got a hole in my head gotta gotta mend it.
Too messed up to sit and settle down.
Too messed up to even mess around.
Thats why your smiling Mr CEO.

I filled my pockets now I might as well - Die!
Cause I found the backdoor out of teenage hell - all right!
Filed my account cause I might in fact - Die!
But I rely on science, yeah to bring me back - all right.
I.....'m gonna die.... but not right now

Yeah why don't you do the same?
I got the money now I can't complain.
Except the tics won't go away oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no!
And the way I feel tonight is gonna make me die all right.

I'd recommend the recent album, Your New Favourite Band as its a compilation of Vendi Vidi Vicious and Barely Legal. It was their attempt to break into the International market, as I'm finding it very hard to find V V V. Plus you get four video clips on the disk ooooh :D

S.R.Vaughan/J.Vaughan from the Album "Family Style"...

"Good Texan"

Say things to me like a cowgirl would
I'll do tricks for you like a cowboy should
You look romantic layin' in the hay
I need you tonight in a new kinda way
When you look at me with those eyes
It makes me start to fantasize

Do it to me like I know you could
So I can do it to you baby like a Texan should

Ridin' the range I think of you
I dig your chili you know it's true
Make big money put it in the bank
That longhorn Caddy got a great big tank

Do it to me like I know you could
So I can do it to you baby like a Texan should

Well you're the kinda woman who's above the rest
Well nothing for me but the best
You say you need a fella who really can
Do it to you good like a Texan man

Massive wardrobe of cowboy clothes
Top of my head to the tip of my toes
Ah you look so good in my hat with fringe on it
So put on my boots mmm doggone it

Do it to me like I know you could
I do it to you like a Texan should
Do it to me baby like I know you could
So I can do it to you baby like a good Texan should

More Blues

Low Down Dirty Blues

Omar and the Howlers

Robert johnson was the king of the blues
He was the best around
I was standing right beside him
On the night the deal went down

Hopped a freight train with Johnny Shines
Rode down to New Orleans
We walked the back street together
You know the man was born to sing

Allow me to introduce myself
I'm what you get when you got nothing left
I'm the pain, the trouble, and the truth
I am the low down dirty blues
I am the low down dirty blues

Followed Mighty Wolf to Memphis
To Sam Phillips and the rising Sun
He put the dust of the delta
In every word of the songs he sung

Muddy Waters was the king then
The head honcho and the big hoo-doo
I was standing right besde him
When he electrified the blues

Allow me to introduce myself
I'm what you get when you got nothing left
I'm the pain, the trouble, and the truth
I am the low down dirty blues
I am the low down dirty blues
Lord of Lurkers

Guess what? I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell!

Well heres lyrics from one of the many songs I like of them. It is also one of many of their hits. Its not their biggest hit, but it has some strange lyrics. So I thought it would be cool to post them.

"Love Vigilantes" By New Order

Oh I've just come
From the land of the sun
From a war that must be won
In the name of truth
With our soldiers so brave
your freedom we will save
With our rifles and grenades
And some help from God
I want to see my family
My wife and child waiting for me
I've got to go home
I've been so alone, you see

You just can't believe
The joy I did recieve
When I finally got my leave
And I was going home
Oh I flew through the sky
my convictions could not lie
For my country I would die
And I will see it soon
I want to see my family
My wife and child waiting for me
I've got to go home
I've been so alone, you see

When I walked through the door
My wife she lay upon the floor
And with tears her eyes were sore
I did not know why
Then I looked into her hand
And I saw the telegram
That said that I was a brave, brave man
But that I was dead
I want to see my family
My wife and child waiting for me
I've got to go home
I've been so alone, you see
“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.
