Just FYI, in Sweden, the Anarchosyndicalists is a registered political party, so I don't get what you mean with "useless big word". They have a political manifest like every other party, where their ideology and goals is cleary stated.

I am somewhat sympathetic to anarchosyndicalism, but isn't it something of an internal contradiction for the "movement" to actually be registered as a political party?

@Dragon W: I don't know a lot about them, just that they are working toward more power for the unions and strike as a polical tool. They are part of the syndicalist party, which itself is very small in Sweden, nowhere near the 4% of votes-limit that a party needs to get in to the parliament.

This definitely seems like a good thread to bump. Right on target at the moment. Hell, we could even discuss what a political affiliation is, if we really want to sound intelligent, yup yup.

to the topic..

1) I'm for abortion.
2) I'm for some gun control.
3) I'm for more money to the education system. (Not limited to college either)
4) I'm for breaking off ties with Saudi.
5) I'm against censorship of any books. 6) I'm for more money being spent on the roads.
7) I'm for raising the gas prices (If the people in Europe can pay (? I believe) $3. to $4. dollars a gallon so can I.
8) More later, I need my tea now..

Geez Fable,
you really like stirring the pot don't you? :p ;)

Okay I suppose if I had to label myself, my politics are of the Social Democratic stripe. Probably, the European social democratics/socialists come closest to where I sit on the political fence. Where Canada is concerned I vote for the New Democratic Party (NDP)... though IMO they are pretty milk toast....

On a couple of occasions, however, I have voted for the federal Liberals because there was a very real chance that a far right, fundamentalist Christian candidate might have won the riding, so it was a strategic decision on my part.

Conservative Democrat. Capitalist and horde monger of all things monetary. Jerk, cheapskate and over all football(american) watching beer drinking proud man.

Who am I going to vote for? Well I'm voting for NOT Bush's cabnit.

@Thug: So you're actually Al Bundy? :p Can I date your daughter? :D

My deranged ideas for a US prez:

Must be female, hopefully from a minority. Must be educated as a teacher and have actually taught both in the downtown school of a big city and a redneck dropout dump in Armpit - Arkansas for at least 10 years. Preferrably languages, literature and history. Single parent. Should have spent some time living in other parts of the planet. Should possibly have spent some time as a relief worker in some real stinkholes of the world. Atheist. Must like to cook, work in the garden and should have seen the sun rise over the rim of a glass more than once.

Yeah, right.

I've had a couple of brews....

But what you really need is political affiliation in easy-to-use quiz format. :D

I'm somewhere in the bottom left quadrant ;)

I've done this before, and just did it again. I'm in the bottom left, closest to Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.

I recall that quiz, I seem to recall I'm in the far corner of the bottom left... surprise, surprise... :D

Actually, I think it is one of the better quizes I have ever taken because its structure allows for a lot of nuance, something that is often quite rare.

1. I am for teaching the Chimpanzees how to speak, and find jobs.

2. I support laws which would stipulate that being a lawyer is a crime, punishable by exile into the deeps of Outer Space. That would be suitable punishment, considering the royal mess attorneys have gotten us into. ;)

3. I propose that the plug be pulled in Washington, so to speak. Turn off all power to the Capitol building, take away expense accounts, salaries, pensions, and the three martini lunch. One term only, no questions asked. Your way is paid to the legislative session; after that...well, don't let the door hit you in the booty on the way out pal. :) When their term is up, they are given a little patriotic lapel pin to remember their service by...on it, the following words should be inscribed: "I was a Public Servant."

4. I am for the complete and utter dissolution of the Internal Revenue Service. I am for the establishment of a Federal sales tax, which in theory would generate more revenue than the current impossibly complex, outdated, loophole-ridden mess that we suffer under now.

5. Free beer, the legalization of marijuana, the abolishment of Blue Laws, and the removal of puritanical "modesty" laws. If someone wants to walk around nekkid, well, they ought to be able to. Don't look if you don't like it. ;)

EDIT - Oops, almost forgot to mention my "affiliation." I am a Libertarian through and through.

You and me both, sister. ;)

Geez Fable,
you really like stirring the pot don't you?
:p ;)

Now if that were the case, I'd be lobbying Buck to let Sailor Saturn back in, so Waverly could indulge his sado-masochistic tendencies. :D ;)

1) I'm in favor of giving the vote only to people who will accept responsibilities for the idiot they elect.

2) I'm in favor of giving lengthy jail sentences to political figures, elected or appointed, who engage in any illegal activity while in office.

3) No lobbying.

4) I'm in favor of changing the political system from winner-to-take-all to party-based-proportional-representation.

5) I'm in favor of gagging any politico who attempts to use an emotional appeal for whatever reason, when running for office or within it.

6) Lawyers and industrialists should be forbidden from running for office. For that matter, anybody who does run for office should be given psychiatric evaluation before being allowed to proceed.

I'm for anything that enhances the survival of the human race, current party with its antiscience, antienvironmental emphasis is contrary to the survival of the human race therefore I am against it.

Not really that interested in ideology, only interested in what works, if certain privatization schemes work so be it, if some government schemes work so be it, I'm a scientist and a pragamatist whatever works is good.

Which means I am often times with parties like the green party, but I am also not averse to the liberatarian ideals as long as they work; at the same time while I am environmental I have a strong emphasis on technology, the two need not be separate.

Other than that, anything that advances human exploration of space is also good, to this end I also support the militarization of space, not because I am for it but because I think it is a ievitable end product of human nature.

I'm not really all that interested in abortion, though I am nominally proabortion; nor am I that interested in gun control, except to say that in cases of hunting you aren't much of a man if you use a assault rifle to kill the creature. With respect to hunting itself I am for it, I mean frankly something has to keep the population down.

I'll usually vote Democrat, but if a good prospace Republican came along and was serious about it, then I would vote for him.

As to my personal beliefs about our government, I don't believe it works all that well, and it should be changed, but frankly that won't happen until it becomes really bad.

And yawwnnnn I have no interest in engaging in conversation with political finatics of either side who frankly are so closeminded they won't change anyway, little point.

Political party okay, anything that works.
