The odd couple. A previously unknown Baldur's Gate/ Lethal Weapon kind of set up. Imagine the conversations:

Aerie: So player character, was is it exactly you do?

Pc: Erm...I'm actually a uh...wizard slayer

Aerie: Sorry, I didn't quite catch that?

PC: ....uh...LOOK! A baby wolf!!!

Part 2 of Bizarre Aerie/WS MIX:

Aerie: So...what kind of wizards do you slay?

PC: Uhm...generally all kinds I guess.

Aerie: Eek! You aren't going to kill me, are you?

PC: Are you a wizard?

Aerie: Well, part at least.

PC: Say, here's the deal, since you're part wizard, I'll be content to have only a part of your body in order to fulfill my duty, in which case, that part shall be destroyed and incinerated.

Aerie: W-w-why don't you take my wings?

PC: Been there, done that...Wake up! You ain't got none, no more!

Aerie: B-b-but Uncle Quay-yle said it w-would heal eventually.

PC: Your uncle's dead! I killed him for letting that stupid gnome illusionist practice his evil magics on the people of Athkatla!!

Aerie: B-b-but it wasn't Uncle's fault! Please don't k-kill me.

PC: ***** of a witch! You shall suffer! Along with Irenicus, Elminster, Khelban and all Avariel wizards. None shall get past my mighty Magic Resistance.
(stops here before it gets too long) :D

Personnally I loved the WS. Final battle- Jon casts Symbol: Kill on me... nothing "hahaha.." as I put a blade into him. I never even had him in TOB (before it came out) but it was great.

A wizard slayer might still have a wizard in there party. Maybe they train in killing wizards to kill EVIL wizards and not magic in general. At least I am sure they don't mind clerics.

Personnally I think that Valygar should of been a wizard slayer from the role-playing perspective.

If that line about dwarves, wizards, and 3E was refering to the fact that dwarves can be wizards in 3E i will just tell you what I tell everyone. Just because dwarven society doesn't like magic doesn't mean that there is no such thing as a dwarven wizard, they are just EXTREMELY RARE.

But by the end of the game I guess I can grandmaster Flail aswell, almost atleast.
Yeah. later on i'll be picking up hammer skills too.
I'm using "the shield of the lost", that's another 5% MR.
I'll say it onr more time. I thought WS sucked, but they are sooo cooool. :D

Just wanted to say that my solo wizardslayer is doing quite well!
Biggest problem is that I cannot open some doors because I can't wear strength belts... I have to build crom for that...and I need crom to be able to build mace of disruption... which means thaat level drain is a pain and therefore the shadowdragon was very hard, as was the demon knights.
Apart from that he is great. I guess I should have tried a WS before saying they are crap :D

I forgot that I could have used the slayer... ah well I am a chaotic good so I guess turning into the slayer in the middle of the street and frightening everyone just to open a door is not an option anyway.
I have been doing some testing with my WS nad here is what I have found:
The spell failure only lasts for 30 seconds.
It only works on wizardspells... a wizard can still cast animate dead even if he cant cast anything else.
It doesn't stop contingencies, triggers and sequencers.
Even so it is very useful, more so than I thought. I always figured, hey about the time the wizard cant cast any spells he is dead anyway. Not true, the often cast stoneskin and prot from magical weapons. Time to dig out the normal weapons and whack the wizard a couple of times and then move on to next target until the prot from magical weapons wears off, then hit him again with say FoA.
It also works through mirrorimage.
Combined with the high magic resistance means that wizards are not a problem anymore.
The spell resource for the failure is spcl 132 and spcl 133 if anyone is interested.
Maybe I should give this affect line to Valygar!!
