I merged the two threads into a single one. That's what we usually do with multiple threads on the same topic.

Edit: OK, all in order
I glued the rest to Charlotte's thread, the posts are organized in chronological order. I hope you didn't get confused
Once again
lease do a search before starting a new thread to avoid multipl threads about the very same thing. Thanks

Off topic:
When there's years of threads on the subject, its easier to just ask again sometimes. Then you have the choice of new replies to use. Sometimes (but not often, and not likely for the 8th chamber) a previously unknown tactic may even turn up. And if it weren't for repeat questions, a forum for a game this old could get pretty dull.
On topic:
Brass monks are tough. They're really tough. But all you have to do is kill them without getting killed first. Here's what I've done.
I've killed them with a barbarian and plenty of luck. But that took many retries and I ended up with 2 hit points left.
I've killed them with a deep gnome Priest of Bane, first spell Mirror Image (ability), second spell animate dead, third spell invisibility (ability). From there on out, more summons made quick work of the monks.
I imagine the same tactic would work with a wizard or sorcerer. The secret is to get the monks to target the summons. Invisibility or running away a lot would work.
And the first time I went through was with a monk. Didn't have any troubles at all.
I haven't tried it as a druid. I could never find a druid character build to my liking.

Why couldn't you get new replies if you continue an '"old" thread?
I don't like bumping hundred year old threads either, but the Chambers, the Ice Temple and the Guardian, they are everyday topics - I don't like to see several threads dealing with these. It's easier to find what you're looking for when related things can be found at the same place.
However, this thread is not for discussing the
Forum Rules, so let's continue with the 8 chambers, I say.
I used a wizard to complete the 8th Chamber. Qucikly cast something like Mirror Image on her, and then had her summon some monsters to distract the monks. It's very important to make the monks attack someone else, b/c you won't be able to defeat them alone, empty handed. It's best to use a spellcaster for this chamber.

I completed seven of eight chambers with my tiefling fighter (10) / rogue (2). This is a near perfect combination of elemental damage reduction, being able to avoid damage from evocation spells, and the ability to dish out damage. The high dex is also very good at keeping a decent AC even without armor and equipment.
The only chamber I didn't use the character for were the spiders. (Sunfire was made for this chamber)

Yeah, and Improved Invisibility
The spiders cannot see you if you conceal yourself with that spell, so it's quite easy to get rid of them (probably the easiest Chamber of all).

The Eighth Chamber
Still having trouble with that chamber..those 2 brass monks have a spell resistance to flame strike...And I can't fight them straight out and beat them..they're too powerful. And on top of that, none of my characters have dash, so I don't know what I can do because my cleric sucks at fighting and he's the only one who knows protection from fire and stoneskin. Any other suggestions??

I beat them with my ranger. She had 20 Dexterity, something like 14 Strength, and she was dual-wielding short swords. The trick is to keep moving. The monks usually stagger (meaning one tends to reach you before the other), so you can swing at the first one until the second one comes into range, and then fall back, wait for them to approach, swing at the first one until the second one comes into range, ad infinitum.
Another thing to bear in mind is that you have to keep well away from the flamestrikes when they happen. They have a blast radius that exceeds the area of the warning circle that appears. I tended to just get as far away from the circle as possible as soon as it appeared.

I made an arcane party with 2 sorcs, cleric and a druid. I was not able to defeat the eight chambers with one guy with no gear on. So I slaughtered all the monks
and took the key by force. That's a solution too

Yes, I have a suggestion. Do a search before you post. Thread merged.
As for the monks, use the mage, if you have one! Mirror Image, Summons, Mordekainen's Sword... This is how I did it (um... don't remember for sure if I had the Sword at that time, but I know that I had my summons to do the dirty work for me.)

If you're having trouble summoning your pets before the monks hit you, try using Shadow Conjuration. This has a fast casting time and will usually resolve before the monks start beating you. Don't worry if the monks don't attack your pet straight away, run around a little, then cast Invisibility. Once you disappear they will focus on your pet. Use the pet to draw the monks away from you then cast your more powerful summons. You should be able to get an undead or other slow casting summon away before the Shadow dies.

I decided to start a new game, and I'm shocked at how easily I destroyed the brass monks in the last chamber. I replied a few months ago at how I did it with summons and invisibility, but this time I used neither. Some people used raging bear druids, which I have in my party, but I didn't. I tried something new to me.
My secret?
A bard.
I had just achieved level 11 and have new toys like haste and the war song. The first thing I did in the chamber was haste myself. I followed by running to the weapons cache and grabbing the darts and a mace since I'm proficient in both. Then I mirror imaged and ran away from the monks, stopping only to toss darts. If I felt lucky, I stopped and pounded a few times with the mace, all the time singing (or lingering, as the case may be) Tymorra's Melody (+1 luck, level 5 song). When the monks were both dead, they had hit me for damage all of one time, and no flame strikes came close.

Personally, I love bards. The combination of decent fighting ability, great defensive spells (blur, blink, mirror image, ghost armour) and pumps (Bull's strength, Eagles Spelndor, Emotion: Hope, Haste) and disabling spells (Chromatic Sphere, sleep, Charm Person, Dire Charm, Horror, Emotion: Fear, Slow, Confusion, Dominate, Great Shout) mean he is a very versatile class given a decent amount of levels. throw in pet summoning with Shades etc. and there's almost nothing the Bard can't do.
They're not the easiest class to master, but with some planning, they're fantastic. All he needs is some elemental damage capability and he'd be all set. Not to worry, there are plenty of items to offset this lack. With the 2 weapon fighting feats and haste, your 15th level pure bard can wade into combat with 5 attacks per round and keep throwing on Mirror Images every round to keep the hits off him or if he's taking a beating, drop an Invisibilty and run off to lick his wounds.
Back on topic:
Bards are well suited to the Eight Chambers challenges, due to their inherent pump abilities and summoning. Use Ghost Armour, Mage armour, Blur, Blink and Haste to make yourself hard to hit and go to town, or summon some shadows to help out.

I did all eight chambers with a barbarian. Eighth chamber was the hardest, but I just ran around until I could stand my ground without being hit by the flame strikes, then clobbered a monk with whatever weapon I grabbed from the room. High HP saw me through..

Fun With Undead
To me what was especially fun with using the undead was that the monks could do NOTHING to a Zombie Lord. They were whacking the heck out of it and the little message kept popping up "Monk: my blow had no effect" or something like that. The Zombie Lord just slowly and patiently would wear them down to nothing. Great to sit back and watch.

Once I discovered the joy of mirror image, summon undead, invis I think the hardest challenge is to pickup all your equipment after its all done...
I sure wish it would just disappear in the challenge cube then reappear when you are out!
But seriously the first time I played I thought it was unbeatable and that I needed a monk in the party (unarmed attacks plus good evasion).
