You might say that Sarevok is in a class of his own. You've heard of the standard Fighter kits--Kensai, Berserker, Wizard Slayer. Sarevok is a Deathbringer, which is sort of like an unofficial kit. I don't have his biography in front of me, but an entry at Wikipedia states, "Under the ruthless tutelege of the Iron Throne, Sarevok studied the art of intimidation and the cruelest and most brutal styles of combat in order to become a Deathbringer, a powerful warrior possessing the abilities to paralyze an opponent in mêlée battle through fear alone, as well as killing the most powerful of opponents in a single, massive blow." On every hit, Sarevok has a 5% chance of doing an extra 200 points of damage with any weapon in addition to the normal damage. It's not a critical hit, and it is not affected by a backstab multiplier if you dual Sarevok to a Thief. A few of the strongest enemies in the game are immune to it. But it is lethal to most monsters, and it's a sight to behold since it has a cool animation and Sarevok yells "Die!" on a successful attack.
Sarevok has proficiency points in Two Handed Swords and Halberds. The Ravager is a halberd that can "chop off heads like nobody's business". (It has a 10% chance of killing an opponent on every hit.) Armed with a weapon like that with multiple attacks per round, Sarevok has a good chance of killing most of your enemies in a single round. Say what you want about Sarevok, but he's a killing machine. He can kill orogs and fire giants all day long. He's very useful in the final battle of TOB if you install the Ascension Mod.

If you use Project Image, you can empty your spellbook several times before you have to rest (and you can keep your character out of harm's way). Spell Immunity Divination prevents the image from being dispelled by spells such as True Seeing. You'll run out of spells eventually, but if you have to fight an army, you can send in a bunch of Mordenkainen's Swords and hit the horde with a couple dozen Horrid Wilting spells and about a dozen Dragon's Breath spells plus whatever scrolls your images have in their quick slots. Needless to say, Sorcerers and Mages are also killing machines.
@liorde: To get back to your original question, it wouldn't be a bad idea to change your lineup and add one or two spellcasters or to replace one of your party members with Sarevok in Throne of Bhaal.
