OK, I'm trying to remember the name of the song Kermit did on TOTP...he was sitting on a set of stairs, crooning away, but I can't seem to find any mention of it on Google or anywhere...it wasn't the above song was it?

I'm afraid I missed it :( ...I can't seem to find it either...I did get a rather pleasant 'Kermit Remembers 1976 [Stand Up]' realaudio clip though....how long ago was this?

Also what do you think of Weezer's muppet bandwagoning? :o

In Your Wildest Dreams
(Sung by Moody Blues, written by Justin Hayward)

Once upon a time
Once when you were mine
I remember skies
Reflected in your eyes
I wonder where you are
I wonder if you
Think about me
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams

Once the world was new
Our bodies felt the morning dew
That greets the brand new day
We couldn't tear ourselves away
I wonder if you care
I wonder if you still remember
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams

And when the music plays
And when the worlds are
Touched with sorrow
When the music plays
I hear the sound
I had to follow
Once upon a time

Once beneath the stars
The universe was ours
Love was all we Knew
And all I knew was you

I wonder if you know
I wonder if you
Think about it
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams

And when the music plays
And when the words are
Touched with sorrow
When the music plays
And when the music plays
I hear the sound
I had to follow
Once upon a time

Once upon a time
Once when you were mine
I remember skies
Mirrored in your eyes
I wonder where you are
I wonder if you
Think about me
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams

In your wildest dreams
In your wildest dreams

I think the TOTP thing was 10 or so years ago...I'm not at all sure though, since I've only seen it on TOTP2...

Hmm, I think this goes to show just how out of touch I am here at Uni with the rest of the world...I don't have a clue what you're talking about. However, my music recommendation for you today is to ...look up the Wurzel's cover of "Don't Look Back In Anger" - only then may you know what ROFL truly means :p

Reading the last song posted recalls this one....

Sun Comes up, It's Tuesday Morning

Sun comes up, it's Tuesday morning
hits me straight in the eye
guess you forgot to close the blind last night
Oh, that's right, I forgot, it was me
I sure do miss the smell of black coffee in the morning,
the sound of water splashing all over the bathroom,
the kiss that you would give me even though I was sleeping,
but I kind of like the feel of this extra few feet in my bed
Telephone's ringing, but I don't answer it
'cause everybody knows that good news always sleeps till noon

Guess it's tea and toast for breakfast again
maybe I'll add a little T.V. too
No milk! God, how I hate that
Guess I'll go to the corner, get breakfast from Jenny
She's got a black eye this morning, `Jen how'd ya get it?'
she says, `Last night, Bobby got a little bit out of hand'

Lunchtime. I start to dial your number
then I remember so I reach for something to smoke
and anyways I'd rather listen to Coltrane
than go through all that **** again

There's something about an afternoon spent doing nothing
Just listening to records and watching the sun falling
Thinking of things that don't have to add up to something
and this spell won't be broken
by the sound of keys scraping in the lock

Maybe tonight it's a movie
with plenty of room for elbows and knees
a bag of popcorn all to myself,
black and white with a strong female lead
and if I don't like it, no debate, I'll leave

Here comes that feeling that I'd forgotten
how strange these streets feel
when you're alone on them
Each pair of eyes just filled with suggestion
So I lower my head, make a beeline for home
Seething inside

Funny, I'd never noticed
the sound the streetcars make as they pass my window
Which reminds me that I forgot to close the blind again
Yeah, sure I'll admit there are times when I miss you
Especially like now when I need someone to hold me
but there are some things that can never be forgiven
and I just gotta tell you
that I kinda like this extra few feet in my bed

This is a favorite song of mine.

Heaven and Hell
by Black Sabbath

Sing me a song, you're a singer
Do me a wrong, you're a bringer of evil
The Devil is never a maker
The less that you give, you're a taker

So it's on and on and on, it's Heaven and Hell,
Oh well, yeah...

The lover of life's not a sinner
The ending is just a beginner
The closer you get to the meaning
The sooner you know that you're dreaming

So it's on and on and on, oh it's on and on and on
It goes on and on and on, Heaven and Hell
I can tell, fool fool

Well if it seems to be real, it's illusion
For every moment of truth, there's confusion in life
Love can be seen as the answer, but nobody bleeds for the dancer

And it's on and on, on and on and on...

They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you gotta ride it well
The world is full of Kings and Queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
It's Heaven and Hell, oh well

And they'll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
It's Heaven and Hell, noh no
Fool fool, you got to bleed for the dancer...
Fool fool, look for the answer...
Fool, fool, fool.

No Leaf Clover - Metallica

And it feels right this time
On this crash course we're in the big time
Pay no mind to the distant thunder
Beauty fills his head with wonder, boy....

Says it feels right this time
Turn around, found new high lights
Good day to be alive Sir
Good day to be alive, he said.....

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
is just a freight train coming your way
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
is just the freight train coming your way

Don't it feel right like this
All the pieces fall to his wish
Suck up for that quick reward boy
Suck up for that quick reward they said.....

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
is just a freight train coming your way
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
is just the freight train coming your way......
It's coming your way
It's coming your way......
Here comes

Yeah, Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just a freight train coming your way.... Yeah...
Then it comes to be, Yeah...
Then it comes to be, Yeah...
Then it comes to be, Yeah...
Then it comes to be, Yeah...
Then it comes to be, Yeah...
Then it comes to be, Yeah...
Then it comes to be, Yeah...
Then it comes to be, Yeah

This is another one from Black Sabbath. It's quite powerful.

Falling Off the Edge of the World
by Black Sabbath

I think about closing the door,
And lately I think of it more.
I'm living well out of my time...
I feel like I'm losing my mind.

I should be at the table round,
A servant of the crown;
The keeper of the sign,
To sparkle and to shine.

Never, no never again...
Listen to me and believe what I say if you can.
Never, this is the end...
You know I've seen the faces of doom, and I'm only a man.
Help me, tell me I'm sane...
I feel a change in the earth, in the wind, and the rain.
Save me, oh take me away...
You know I've seen creatures from Hell, and I've heard what they say.

I've got to be strong...
Oh, I'm falling off the edge of the world.
Think you're safe but you're wrong...
We are falling off the edge of the world.

Look out there's danger, no where to run...
Seems like desperate measures but sometimes its got to be done.
Over, its over at last...
And the message inside as we build a new life from the past.

We're falling off the edge of the world...
Yes, the edge of the world...
It's the end of the world.

The Way I Feel - 12 Stones

Lately I've been wandering
Off the narrow path
You've given me so many things that I've never had
And all in all I know it's you that always pulls me through
If you reach deep inside you'll see my heart is true

Cause I hate the way I feel tonight
And I know I need you in my life
Yes I hate the way I feel inside
And I promise to make the sacrifice

(yeah)
(Come on)

The world I know is pulling me, pulling more each day
I feel like the odd man out as I begin to pray
Spiteful eyes are watching me
With everything I do
In the mist of darkness lord
The spirit calls of you

Cause I hate the way I feel tonight
And I know I need you in my life
Yes I hate the way I feel inside
And I promise to make the sacrifice
(yeah)
(You know sometimes deep inside)
I feel like this

Cause I hate the way I feel tonight
And I know I need you in my life
Yes I hate the way I feel inside
And I promise to make the sacrifice

I hate the way I feel tonight
And I know I need you in my life
( The way I feel)

I thought I'd post one more by Black Sabbath...

Country Girl
by Black Sabbath

Fell in love with a country girl, morning sunshine,
She was up from a nether world, just to bust another soul...
Her eyes were an endless flame, holy lightning;
Desire what a special name, made to snatch your soul away, yeah.
Ooh-ooh, yeah.

We sailed away on a crimson tide, gone forever...
Left my heart on the other side, all to break it into bits.
Her smile was a winter song, a Sabbath ending...
Don't sleep or you'll find me gone, just an image in the air.
oh, yeah

In dreams I think of you...
I don't know what to do with myself;
Time has let me down,
She brings broken dreams, fallen stars...
The endless search for where you are
Sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on.

Now, fell in love with a country girl, morning sunshine
She was up from a nether world, just to bust another soul
Her eyes were an endless flame, unholy lady
Desire what a special name, made to snatch your soul away, oh

Don't sail away on a crimson tide,
Don't leave your heart on the other side.
Her eyes are an endless flame...
Ooh, desire what a special name...
Don't ever fall in love,
Don't give your heart away.
No never, never fall in love... with a country girl.

The lyrics of those songs alone are powerful...but when you hear the song itself, it blows you away. Dio with Black Sabbath was probably my favorite band when I was a teenager.

Bring them out, BS. :D

My Fav was Headless Cross.....I think Tony Martin was on that

I liked Dio, himself, when he was with Rainbow...but I like Black Sabbath the best when Dio was on board. Mob Rules and Heaven and Hell were two of their best albums. :D

You won't get shot by me. ;) I like just about all of Sabbath, but Dio/Sabbath is my favorite.

Children of the Sea
by Black Sabbath

In the misty morning, on the edge of time
We've lost the rising sun, a final sign.
As the misty morning... rolls away to die
Reaching for the stars, we blind the sky...

We sailed across the air before we learned to fly,
We thought that it could never end.
We'd glide above the ground before we learned to run. Run!
Now it seems our world has come undone...

Oh they say that it's over
And it just had to be
Ooh they say that it's over
We're lost children of the sea, ooh, oh-ohh

We made the mountains shake with laughter as we played,
Hiding in our corner of the world...
Then we did the demon dance and rushed to nevermore;
Threw away the key and locked the door.

Oh they say that it's over, yeah
And it just had to be
Yes they say that it's over
We're lost children of the sea, oh

In the misty morning, on the edge of time,
We've lost the rising sun, the final sign
As the misty morning... rolls away to die
Reaching for the stars, we blind the sky.

Oh they say that it's over
And it just had to be
Oh they say that it's over
Poor lost children of the sea, yeah

LOOK OUT! The sky is falling down
LOOK OUT! The world is spinning round and round and round
LOOK OUT! The sun is going black, black.
LOOK OUT! It's never never never coming back
LOOK OUT!

I'm in a Tom Lehrer mood today...

We Will All Go Together When We Go

Funny Talky bit: I am reminded at this point of a fellow I used to know whose name was Henry, only to give you an idea of what a individualist he was, he spelled it H-E-N-3-R-Y - the three was silent, you see.

Henry was financially independent, having inherited his father's tar-and-feather business, and was therefore able to devote his full time to such intellectual pursuits as writing. I particularly remember a heartwarming novel of his about a young necrophiliac who finally achieved his boyhood ambition by becoming coroner. ... (The rest of you can look it up when you get home.)

In addition to writing, he indulged in a good deal of philosophizing. Like so many contemporary philosophers, he especially enjoyed giving helpful advice to people who were happier than he was. And one particular bit of advice which I recall - which is the reason I bring up this whole dreary story - is something he said once, before they took him away to the Massachusetts State Home for the Bewildered.

He said: "Life is like a sewer - what you get out of it depends on what you put into it." It's always seemed to me that this is precisely the sort of dynamic, positive thinking that we so desperately need today in these trying time of crisis and universal brouhaha. And so with this in mind, I have here a modern, positive, dynamic, uplifting song, in the tradition of the great old revival hymns. This one might more accurately be termed a survival hymn. It goes like this:

When you attend a funeral,
It is sad to think that sooner o'
Later those you love will do the same for you.
And you may have thought it tragic,
Not to mention other adjec-
Tives, to think of all the weeping they will do.
(But don't you worry.)

No more ashes, no more sackcloth,
And an arm band made of black cloth
Will some day nevermore adorn a sleeve.
For if the bomb that drops on you
Gets your friends and neighbors too,
There'll be nobody left behind to grieve.

And we will all go together when we go.
What a comforting fact that is to know.
Universal bereavement,
An inspiring achievement,
Yes, we will all go together when we go.

We will all go together when we go.
All suffused with an incandescent glow.
No one will have the endurance
To collect on his insurance,
Lloyd's of London will be loaded when they go.

Oh we will all fry together when we fry.
We'll be french fried potatoes by and by.
There will be no more misery
When the world is our rotisserie,
Yes, we will all fry together when we fry.

Down by the old maelstrom,
There'll be a storm before the calm.

And we will all bake together when we bake.
There'll be nobody present at the wake.
With complete participation
In that grand incineration,
Nearly three billion hunks of well-done steak.

Oh we will all char together when we char.
And let there be no moaning of the bar.
Just sing out a Te Deum
When you see that I.C.B.M.,
And the party will be come-as-you-are.

Oh, we will all burn together when we burn.
There'll be no need to stand and wait your turn.
When it's time for the fallout
And Saint Peter calls us all out,
We'll just drop our agendas and adjourn.

You will all go directly to your respective Valhallas.
Go directly, do not pass Go, do not collect two hundred dollars.

And we will all go together when we go.
Every Hottentot and every Eskimo.
When the air becomes uranious,
We will all go simultaneous.
Yes, we all will go together
When we all go together,
Yes we all will go together when we go.

Poisoning Pigeons in the Park

Spring is here, a-suh-puh-ring is here.
Life is skittles and life is beer.
I think the loveliest time of the year is the spring.
I do, don't you? 'Course you do.
But there's one thing that makes spring complete for me,
And makes every Sunday a treat for me.

All the world seems in tune
On a spring afternoon,
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park.
Every Sunday you'll see
My sweetheart and me,
As we poison the pigeons in the park.

When they see us coming, the birdies all try an' hide,
But they still go for peanuts when coated with cyanide.
The sun's shining bright,
Everything seems all right,
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park.

We've gained notoriety,
And caused much anxiety
In the Audubon Society
With our games.
They call it impiety
And lack of propriety,
And quite a variety
Of unpleasant names.
But it's not against any religion
To want to dispose of a pigeon.

So if Sunday you're free,
Why don't you come with me,
And we'll poison the pigeons in the park.
And maybe we'll do
In a squirrel or two,
While we're poisoning pigeons in the park.

We'll murder them all amid laughter and merriment,
Except for the few we take home to experiment.
My pulse will be quickenin'
With each drop of strych'nine
We feed to a pigeon.
(It just takes a smidgin!)
To poison a pigeon in the park.

"Tribute" - Tenacious D

[spoken]
This is the greatest and best song in the world... Tribute.

Long time ago me and my brother Kyle here,
we was hitchhikin' down a long and lonesome road.
All of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon... in the middle... of the road.
And he said:
[sung]
"Play the best song in the world, or I'll eat your soul." (soul)
[spoken]
Well me and Kyle, we looked at each other,
and we each said... "Okay."
[sung]
And we played the first thing that came to our heads,
Just so happened to be,
The Best Song in the World, it was The Best Song in the World.

Look into my eyes and it's easy to see
One and one make two, two and one make three,
It was destiny.
Once every hundred-thousand years or so,
When the sun doth shine and the moon doth glow
And the grass doth grow...

Needless to say, the beast was stunned.
Whip-crack went his schwumpy tail,
And the beast was done.
He asked us: "(snort) Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."
Rock!
Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh-ah-ah,
Ohhh, whoah, ah-whoah-oh!

This is not The Greatest Song in the World, no.
This is just a tribute.
Couldn't remember The Greatest Song in the World, no, no.
This is a tribute, oh, to The Greatest Song in the World,
All right! It was The Greatest Song in the World,
All right! It was the best ************* song the greatest song in the world.
[2-part skat]
[spoken]
And the peculiar thing is this my friends:
the song we sang on that fateful night it didn't actually sound
anything like this song.
[sung]
This is just a tribute! You gotta believe me!
And I wish you were there! Just a matter of opinion.
Ah, ****! Good God, God lovin',
So surprised to find you can't stop it.
[skat]
All right! All right!

Iron Maiden

Hallowed Be Thy Name

I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time
Cos at 5 o'clock they take me to the Gallows Pole
The sands of time for me are running low

When the priest comes to read me the last rites
I take a look through the bars at the last sights
Of a world that has gone very wrong for me

Can it be there's some sort of error
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end not some crazy dream

Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not so easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me when I try to speak
Tears they flow but why am I crying
After all I am not afraid of dying
Don't believe that there is never an end

As the guards march me out to the courtyard
Someone calls from a cell "God be with you"
If there's a God then why has he let me die?

As I walk all my life drifts before me
And though the end is near I'm not sorry
Catch my soul cos it's willing to fly away

Mark my words please believe my soul lives on
Please don't worry now that I have gone
I've gone beyond to see the truth

When you know that your time is close at hand
maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down there is just a strange illusion.
