There is something I forgot to mention -especially to fable- and that concerns the bugs I encountered. Truth be told, I only encountered one more bug (aside from the "bue-circeled" wyverns, which I already mentioned in the story) and that bug can be easily overcome, I guess.

You see, in the final fight with Irenicus, you can plant a few traps before using the tears (that is before Irenicus pops up, initiates dialog and teleports himself and his allies to the other side of hell). Now, I planted a few spiketraps near the spot where the Dragon would be placed. As a result, the game does not continue when Irenicus –and especially the dragon- are teleported at the other side of hell and you are left alone with a few shades.

What happened? I discovered that if you plant the traps too close to the dragon, the game does not continue. However, if you plant them a bit closer to where you stand yourself, the game continues as normal and the Dragon will still walk in the traps. Everyone's happy

So if someone is planning on playing with the same amount of mod's as I did, then don't worry, because you will not find bugs that crash your game or computer. You'll be fine.

Sytze, I'm planning to start a deathless journey myself. Should I install all modules on Tactics?

I dont want Solaufein (the old best modded character ever) but I'm planning to take Xan mod with me. I know I will miss the Undead sola encounter, but honestly, Xan is allright. Should I add tashia for an extra hand of spellcasting? My party will be:

Cleric/Ranger
Jan
Minsc (or Keldorn)
Xan
Valygar
(open spot for Viconia or Aerie, depending on the choice above).

I dont plan to powergame, and I do plan to "Suffer" in all battles and never to raise a dead companion. However, I do plan to use the wand of healing cheese in the very hard times. Would you approve it in the "Deathless Journey" franchise?

I'm also bumping this thread so that the new members will see a very good game description. Please, new members, stay on topic, and ask questions gently. Sytze is a master teacher.

I was suppose to start my own BG2 game but when this thread was mentioned I got to reading, and reading and reading (sigh looks like I'll have to finish it now to stem my curoisity)

I just noticed this thread became scarily storylike the farther I got in the game. No matter, as long as I had fun with it.

I'm actually giving it another swing, too, Luis. However, I'm currently in the process of installing everything all over. I haven't played BG for months, so I need to refresh my memory on what I installed and what I didn't. I'll edit this post later today with a detailed list of the installed Mod's and the respective components I left out.

The list I wrote in my first post is fairly spot-on, though.

That’s it. I fear I have handed myself too much trouble on my own plate by installing certain components, such as Improved Demons, Master Brain, Firekraag, Temple Sewers Party (that Sorcerer is nasty), and probably Improved Mind Flayers. But I’ll see how things turn out, if continuously dying gets tedious to the point of being totally annoying, I know I overstepped my boundaries.

Luis, concerning your raise dead issue, I always resurrect(ed) party members. They can die, they can be resurrected, thus I do so. When I die it’s over, when an NPC gets chunked, it’s over for him/her. In my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with resurrecting.
Not taking Sola along is probably a good idea, too. I’ve never been able to beat his nasty encounter without the use of cheese and even with the use, I never made it without dying. If you want to finishing the game, without dying, all the way through ToB, how small that chance might be, installing Sola is not advised.

I like your party. You gave yourself a solid, strong character, capable of surviving most encounters as long as he’s protected sufficiently. My character, the Archer/Thief, is kind of on the weak side and has the tendency to die quite easily. Unfortunately I’m addicted to the versatility and capabilities of the class, so I’m stubbornly sticking to it.
You’ve got two mages, Jan and Xan. Are you planning to take Imoen along as well? If so, then definitely no Tashia. If not, then Tashia might be a powerful addition, but not necessary.
You’ve got three rangers, two clerics (you and Aerie/Vic), one thief and more than enough fighters. I’d say you got all the bases covered nicely.
As for your choice of Viconia/Aerie, I advice you to take Aerie along. You got more than enough power on the clerical level to justify Viconia’s absence. Not only that, Aerie is welcome because she’s a mage, too, which gives you three mages. There’s no need for Tashia or Immie in that case.

Keep us updated. Don’t let yourself be knocked out because Illyich is a pain in the butt. Just take it slowly, hit and run, guerrilla warfare is pretty much the key here.

I think I might want to do a 'Deathless Journey' too. Unfortunately, I am having trouble installing Tactics, so it won't be nearly as epic.

If I do end up doing this Deathless Journey, it will be with a party of four custom characters I have already designed.

Here they are:

1)(PC) A halfling barbarian that dual-wields daggers. A halfling barbarian must obviously be insane, so he is chaotic neutral.

2) A skald. He's pretty weak. I use him for all my spellcasting needs, but he's also pretty good with a crossbow. He has to run like hell when a monster attacks him because his hit points are so low. Also chaotic neutral.

3) A shapeshifter, possibly dual-classed to a fighter eventually. I think he is the best fighter in the group, rather than my PC. (If you dual-class to fighter while shapeshifted, you stay shapeshifted.)

4) An elf swashbuckler(female). Every party needs a thief, and I didn't want to create a one-backstab-kill asassin or a cheaty-faced trap-laying bounty hunter. Surprisingly, she is the only good-alligned character. Her armor class is pretty good, even when all she is wearing is leather.

I will definitely add personalities to these characters when I get the chance. In all likelihood, I will need to take a couple NPCs just to make the game less bland due to a lack of character interactions. But I would rather try to win with a party of four.

Update: this party died within 10 days of escapin Irenicus's dungeon. They were killed by two shades and a mummy. But it was so @$%* fun that I'm going to try it again.

All the more reason to give it a try nonetheless.

If you're worried about party interaction, personalities, etc. you could always edit the NPC's in the game to the characters you want to take along. Dalis could serve as an excellent Skald, maybe Cernd or Valygar as the Shapeshifter, and perhaps Jaheira or even Viconia as the Swashbuckler. If you're any good with Shadowkeeper, no boundary is too far, the only limit will be your imagination.
