Agreed on Korgan, but what according to you makes Minsc good? I hold him as the worst Warrior in the game. His STR is good of course, but there are plenty of STR enhancing items to be found anyway...
All the profits of being a Ranger (spells, racial enemy, charm animal) and his Berserk ability. He's much like Korgan, if you think of it, minus the specialization, but plus the Ranger spells.

Korgan got better HPs, and better saving throws. And the (Grand) Mastery sure makes a difference...

So do the cleric spells. Besides, Minsc does have a good con and because he's a Ranger he has decent savings as well. Like I said: no specialisation, but spells.

I wouldn't call a CON of 16 more than decent for a Ranger. Korgan's 19 is far better.
So which spells do you use then? I'm not that fond of low level druids spells, I have to admit.

Level 1: Armor of Faith. This spell is really good at the higher levels, especially if you combine it with the HLA hardiness.
Level 2: Not really that useful spells, usually I get a Resist Fire/Cold or a Slow Poison for savety's sake.
Level 3: Take your pick: Dispel Magic, Protection from Fire, Call Lightning, and i'm sure I'm forgetting one.

Indeed, Minsc rocks

His strength is best in the game, and his berserk mode is insane (like Korgan's).
I just noticed I made a huge flaw though, I meant KELDORN instead of KORGAN. oops! hehe. well, Korgan is absolutely great too ofcourse, but I meant the Minsc + Keldorn combo, both being good, having nice friendly banter, two honorouble (and, imo, good) fighters fighting side by side. you know

As I said before, I don't see this as very important. There are so many STR enhancing items to be obtained in the game, that you will not be satisfied with his natural STR for long anyway. Buy little Mazzy the Girdle of Strength in chapter 2, and she'll be both stronger and have a better AC due to higher DEX.

well yes, but you could give minsc the girdle too. Like I said, every npc is good when used in a good way, a perfectly equiped Aerie could take on an unequiped Minsc anytime, but when you look at the Npcs just how they are and what they're good at, Minsc is simply the strongest, and he has good (not great, but good enough) dex and con. His berserk mode is cool, and has some nice spells (armor of faith is REALLY good).

If you get right down to it, evey potential party NPC is good simply because for many of us, the game has long since ceased to be a untried challenge. Taking on less successful, "A Team" NPCs and making a full party work with them is one way of restoring the strategic thrill of this RPG.

Indeed, that's just my point, I could give it to him as well. For that very reason, I don't see his natural STR as a big thing. Then I by far prefer Mazzy's ***** in Short Bows, or Korgans ***** in Axes, or Keldorn's possibility to wield Carsomyr.

Who's better... who's worse... post after post after post...
This is one of the main reasons that this game is sooo great. 'This' NPC can be argued as being better than 'that' NPC, and at the exact same time, argued equally as much the opposite.
"But he's got Druid spells"
"But she's got five stars in Bows"
"But he's got Carsomyr"
...but they've got this... but they've got that...
As Fable said, *all* the NPCs are good.
It's about playing style. If you like kickin butt with an axe, one NPC is definitely better. If bows are your thing, another NPC is better, making the first NPC worse. If spells are your thing, etc., etc., etc.
So, (from original post last year) who's the worst? The NPC that has advantages matching the *opposite* of your playing style is the winner.
The dudes at Bioware must smile knowing threads like this exist. Mission accomplished!
But I digress. Continue your debates. Please. I find them very entertaining.

I just don't like talking about Anomen

. I'd say because he's arrogant, ignorant, and annoying in general. I think his personality is perfectly crafted to make me hate him.
