Right you are Rudar.
Back on topic guys.
I have to agree that May-var is am intriging character. He really changed from the start of the quest.
Problem with many characters is that, after they are created, they don't chance; they will always be the same. That's what I like about Rudar's character.
Thanks Rob! That's what I like about May-var too...starting off as a bad guy and slowly become a dedicated follower of Selune. And the cool thing is; he might just change back to evil if he finds out he really IS a balor

Frustration Demortis? . Hey man, it's your character, so if you like it, there's no problem. But don't act like all people who don't agree with you are morrons.

My present character is a dwarf fighter6/ranger1/dwarven defender4 called Sarach. His entire family (and community) were wiped out by giants, so he's been trashing them ever since (favored enemy giant and with a giant bane dwarven waraxe). He's not the most powerful of hitters (other than against giants!), but can really take the damage. He also acts as the party trap detector by being the first to open things ('casue we don't have a rogue...).
In one combat, we encountered three frost giants and around 8 or 10 ogres. He immediately rushed into the center, took up his defensive stance (AC 34 or some such) and just trashed them. The rest of the party got their butts kicked, but he came out virtually unscathed
Of course, on the flip side, I remember when he got grappled by a yeti and was getting the life squeezed out of him. If it hadn't been for the timely intervention of the party cleric and a quick freedom of movement spell, he never would have made it to the aforementioned frost giant encounter.
Another fine moment came in a combat with an enormous crab in a cavern filled with boiling water that was about to fall on our heads (the wizard had nuked what was holding it back with a fireball ) Things were going badly until Sarach pulled it out of the bag with a couple of big rounds (over 90 points of damage in 2 rounds), which killed the thing. What we didn't know was that the DM was counting down the time to the water falling on our heads and boiling us all. We got out with exactly one round to spare, though not before grabbing the loot, of course!
So, he's probably my favorite 3 or 3.5 character.

My best high defence guy, is my Thri-kreen monk. with 34 armor. hes dishen out flurry of blows every round and hittin something hard. its great. to bad he nearly killed the troll fighter we had. the troll gets suck under a giant roach, it starts crushing him, which he laughs at because its all subdual. he gets half way out from under the bug, when i droped two large rocks on it. one rolls off and nearly crushes his head. it was great, the monk and the fighter are still at each others throats because of it. lol

I played an 18th level monk once, who had an AC of 45. We had to fight a captured god at a certain moment and the guy was unable to hit me...
So, I was frustrating the DM:
"Stop trying to hit me, and hit me!"
"Can't touch this!"
"AC 39? Let's have a look...nope you missed. Loser!"

Similar story, a buddy of mine made a Psionic character with the vigor feat, and it eventually got to a point where upon using vigor, he'd gain 240 hit points. He killed gods with that...

Noobs breaking rules and having fun
My favorite character... a 2nd edition Elvish Druid named Jorgandan. I can hear the protests now- "In 2nd ed, you couldn't be an elvish druid?!" Yes, that was absolutely true, but that was only the beginning of the many debacles that plagued this character.
I was brand new to D&D and I don't think the DM was half as good as he thought he was. There were no other players that were consistant, which made things an even bigger mess- just me and him, trying to play. Consequently, we broke the rules in more ways than you can imagine. Some of my favorites include:
-Idiotic overpowering- Generating the character at 5th level to join an already existing party and butchering it horribly. Beyond the fact that he was an elf druid, he was also generated to somehow have a 20 Wis, 19 Dex, 18 Chr, and a +6 quarterstaff. Things kept going from there...
-Multiple campaigns- Sometimes, when another friend of mine felt like playing, we would round up random hack-and-slash style encounters and then allow the XP from a totally different session to be counted towards the primary campaign...
And, my personal favorite...
-Gross class abuse- When Jorgandan reached 20th level as a Druid, we didn't know what to do because we didn't have high level XP charts. However, I didn't want to stop playing him, so what did we do? We just added on another class. That's right, Jorgandan the elf-druid lvl 20 became Jorgandan the elf-druid/bard (because bard and druid make sense, right? ) lvls 20/1. This eventually became lvls 20/20, at which point (that's right, you guessed it) we added on another class! Eventually we stopped playing when we killed the Tarrasque and Jorgandan was a druid/bard/fighter lvls. 20/20/13- that's right, 53 total levels (what were we thinking?)
-It is also worth mentioning that he had a kit for every class (I think he was a Shapeshifter/Jester/Gladiator). None of the kits made sense, especially not together.
-It is also worth mentioning that, for all these overpowering aspects, I was SO BAD at playing that Jorgandan would regularly get nearly killed by the most mundane of foes- for example, one time it took him 3 heal spells, almost a full spell repitoire and tons of luck to defeat 1 Drow Warrior and her Drider. It really is ridiculous in hindsight.
I mention all this because I played this character for 2 or 3 years straight, and I've never had more fun with one character. It was magical. And even though he was basically a hit list of what not to do as a gamer, I had a great time playing him (but seriously, what were we thinking? I mean, 53 levels? That's ridiculous...)

Don't gods automatically roll a 20 and only have to roll for a critical?

He was a captured god and therefore he didn't have all his normal powers. I wasn't the DM, but since our DM back then was a rules-nazi I'm sure all things went by the book.

Hi people. Im a noob and this is my 2nd post but anyway, My fave was my only character i ever played.
Low level half elf/half dragon, he had to be low lvl and young or it would have not let any of the other players, get any action. My dm made an exception for me. The other ones in the group were an alian from starcraft, a werewolf, an elven sage, and a few other things, anyway my half dragon was a wheat farmer, sorceror, and we didn't get very far, our playing got canceled and dis allowed, that stupid devil worshiping crap that was goin for a while prevented us from playing. About the only thing i didn't like about it, was that i had a low, what was it called, it was that i had to have somebody else deal with other people cause i was too ugly and scared people.

Your post reminded me of some of my early gaming experiences. When me and friends discovered D&D, we had to try to figure it out and the lust for cool Items was way more "cool" to us than learning all the rules. I was going through some of my folders a while back and found some of my old characters from the eighties. My 20th lvl cleric, with no attribute below 16 and about 25% of the magic items in the DM’s guide!. Lol. It actually took me along time to really know the game. At first it was all about power and items, not about role playing. But hey, as you said it was totally fun. I don’t think I would enjoy it now as much, but a power game is fun every now and then, though for me a “power game” is not nearly as radical as the “old days”.
One note on Elves and Druids/Bards. Separately, I have always been baffled by why elves were not considered for those classes. Clearly Elves are lovers and tenders of nature. A druid fits with an elf way more than the usual Human. Bards too are right up elves allies, or trails as it were. Elves are well known for being artistic and musical in nature. I always thought of elves passing history through song – like Tolken depicted in his works.

Moved by request of Siberys:
There is a tie between my two fav's.
Number 1) Locke Valder.
An insanely book smart wizard of level 10. He has a staff of fire which is his prized possesion and it still has 74 charges left in it and he doesn't use it all that often to conserve it's energy. He has numerous status effect spells such as Blindness/deafness, grease, slow, ray of enfeeblement, and many others. As he ventured through the campaign, he found a ring of wizardry 1 and the members of the party decided to let him keep it, but at a cost of not getting much loot for a while, just to balance things out. He has a couple of item craft feats which he used for his staff and a couple of other things. He also has a prestige class of elemental savant (3.0 edition) and has begun to master the air and it's qualities.
Number 2) William Hyde.
A spear wielding fighter/diplomat of level 10. He currently has levels in rogue and fighter, thus bringing me to his prized possesion. He fortunately found a smith that could enchant his spear into one of something like the sword of subtelty. He also asked for deadly precision in the spear (complete adventurer. gives you plus 2d6 sneak attack if you have sneak attack in the first place), thus making it easier and more effective for him to slash his opponents to pieces. He has feats such as mercantile background (which lets you sell things at 75% and buy something once per month at 75%.) and leap attack (gives you X3 damage with a two handed weapon when charging, jumping, and power attacking at the same time) which leads to his jump skill. His skill in jump has been nearly perfected and has never failed him (meaning he could roll a 1 and still make the jump to preform the feat). He is well known throughout the kingdoms of Torril.
Both characters are Lawfulgood and both are very reputable people, though willy is a little more than locke.
I can't decide which is better though.
Guinness is good for you.
Gives you strength.
Gives you strength.
Favorite Character
my favorite character is a lvl 1 Monk lvl 12 Ranger human. She has a Dex of 6 and critically fails on a roll of 1 and on a roll of 2. I don't recall what the DM decided to give me to balance that out, but having your critical faliure rate doubled is pretty fun.
I think she went like this for stats
Str: 16 (+1 at level 4)
Dex: 6
Con: 14 (+1 at level 8)
Wis: 23 (I talked my DM into giving me a -8 to dex for a +4 to wisdom before telling him I rolled an 18) (and +1 at level 12)
Int: 12
Cha: 15
I like using bows with her (they're only effective because of the feat that lets you use your wisdom modifer instead of Dex with ranged weapons). Due to the 3.5 Ranger levels she has cool bow feats even though she doesn't meet Dex requirements.
Enemies could tell from a glance that she was clumsy as hell, so it was extra cool when I would suddenly whip out a bow and launch three arrows at them (and all the arrows would hit). I also liked that my party was always astounded whenever I used my bow. None of them could figure out how I could be so clumsy and yet fire a bow like that.

My Greatest Character
hi all
the best char i ever played was a 16 lvl elven ranger/fighter (4lvl ranger 12lvl fighter) called Aragog Evenstar. his main feats were spring attack, rapid shot and improved crit (rapier).
here were his stats
STR 16
DEX 25 (with bonus)
CON 14
INT 13
WIS 14
CHA 10
his armor class (AC) was 28
his primary weapons were 2 +3 keen rapiers (with the improved crit and the fact that they were keen i scored a crit on a roll of 12). however they were cursed so i couldnt talk in any way or drop them. but i didbt mind that

Post no. 2... w00t!
Anywho
My favourite char would have to be... *Tries to remember name* Hmm, started with a Z or an X and had sand or sea in his last name... A Rogue/Fighter/Ranger 6/4/4 at the end. He was teh nephew to the Head of teh Thieves guild, fell in love with some slave, and had to get an Orb of Anihilation to get his uncle to free her. It was super fun, I actually did some sea fighting (Sometihng I have wanted to do for ages) and found me a Cursed Cloak of the Manta Ray. It started of really cool, I did some wierd trials for te merfolk and became the king *Reminisces about cutting his way out of a Dragon Turtle* He had some rigged sword with a made-up lightning enchantment; if a foe was wearing any metal and I hit himm.... 3d6 extra... if I was in water, everyone in a 10 foot radius took 3d6 every round... super handy in the trials. My DM was a beast, awesome at actually interacting with the players and stuff, but couldn't think of worlds or stories, thus I came up with the campaign and he ran it.
In the end it just became stupid, I found some intelligent longsword in teh mouth of a sea otter... which subsequently became my companion, and eventually lost intrest... But it was hella fun for me
I am also looking forward to my upcoming character. The DM (Different guy, the complete oposite, lives and breathes his campaign world, but can't interact with the players to save his life) has practically pulled a Tolkien on the world. My character is from the Imperial lands (Rome), He was a decorated war-hero, came back adn pulled a Romeo and Juliet... with a twist. Fell in love with the Princess of a rival House, only to find her in bed with another Prince. He killed the Prince and cut up his former lover. He is now an exile, loooking forward to playing him a lot...
That's my two cents... adieu

Fell in love with the Princess of a rival House, only to find her in bed with another Prince. He killed the Prince and cut up his former lover. He is now an exile, loooking forward to playing him a lot...
That's my two cents... adieu
But Sarach, alas, is no more. He was sucked into an alternate reality, where he now wanders alone. Well, not quite alone, as he has the company of two intelligent weapons - one he likes and one he can't stand (and was looking to destroy). Damned Will saves
