Just thought I'd point anybody coming here to a very nice shareware product I've gotten into myself recently.
It's a flexible suite of tools for playing role-playing games like D&D (D&D to AD&D all the way to 4E) and even wargames like Battletech and card games like MTG (soon). It's free, will remain free, is very stable, very flexible, and just altogether swell.
Great community over there as well, so visit the forums. Takes some time to learn finer points as a GM, but as a player it's a snap. (And the GM doesn't have it that hard, until he starts trying to get fancy). It even handles vision and light for you, if you want. You can have different players' vision restricted to what their characters can see, etc. Good stuff. Check it out.

And here's a couple screenshots of what you can do with it.

(Use the lastest 1.3 build - it's still beta, but stable and far better than 1.2)
