Stuck in quest

I'm playing through the game for my first time and i'm finding a certain vampire pretty much invincible, so i decided to go back and do some side quests for more xp. Enter: Hendak and the slaves. I go to the slavers boat, slit up some dudes and free three children, but it still doesn't update my journal, and talking to hendak gives me no reward.

What gives? am i missing a secret door or something?

You should carry the key you took from the body of Captain Haegan back to Hendak. You may even forget to free any of the children, and still bringing back the key will complete the quest. If, however, you've brought back the key and nothing happened, then you've most probably not patched with the latest official patch or haven't fixpacked.

Certain 'powerful' vampires can be harmed with weapons +2(the most powerful will require +3) and many spells - arcane and divine. Vampires tend to drain levels from a character, so protect your characters from the Negative Plane(4th level priest spell).

Ah thanks a bunch, i'll find and install the fixes ASAP.

Also, yeah i'm doing the first fight against bodhi (where she teleports in after you stake some coffin-bound vampires), and nothing seemed to hit or hurt her, including all spells. Only thing that has hit her on a regular basis was jaheiras +2 staff of lightning or thunder or something

so thanks for the info! i should probably have spotted that sooner!

PS: I haven't picked up or seen any boots all game?

EDIT: removed PPS because i figured out why i couldn't damage the unseeing eye

SPOILERS RE boots
I think that you can buy some boots in a temple in the Temple District.
If you have Mazzy in your party when you visit an inn in the bridge district, you may get some boots of stealth.
Other boots can be acquired from a vending machine later in the game.There are others.
