About identify

Post by Bohman »

Hello!

I have a lot of arrow +1 which I haven't identified yet. I identified one and then I thought I just could do it with the rest without the spell, but that didn't seem to work. Do I really have to identify every pile with the spell, in the shop or with a scroll?

Thanks in advance!

If you have a wizard or a thief, you maybe don't need identify. Just right click and sometimes, if your lore is high enough, you'll see what it is. You can try to put all the arrows that look the same on each other. Example: if you have 5 packs of 2 fire arrows (unidentified) then you can stack them.

Hm. Works on some items, but not on the arrows. Is there any way to learn how to identify an item again if you find one more of an item you've already identified before? :(

You don't really need to identify arrows. Once you have identified them once, you know what they are, so just use them without identifying them.

Well, that's what I thought. But, it doesn't seem to work. I still don't get the +1 dmg.

That's strange, as it certainly works with poison arrows, arrows of fire, arrows of ice etc.
However, if it is arrows +1 that you are talking about, most characters with a reasonable lore can identify them. Imoen, Jaheira, and Gareth come to mind straight away.

I *think* a character only needs a Lore score of 5 to auto-identify Arrows +1. Auto-identifying is done by right-clicking on the item (or stack of items) when the item/stack is in said character's inventory.

Who has got, and what is, the highest Lore score in your group, eh?

Lore required to ID +1 Arrows is actually 20.

You should still be able to use them when unidentified, and they should still as far as I'm aware get the +1 damage bonus. Don't forget resistances can reduce the damage, so it can appear as if you aren't getting the bonus even when you are.

Thanks, g. I was going off my fading (failing?) memory.

I've fallen flat on my face too often on here to rely on my increasingly unreliable memory anymore, so I checked the item file. Unfortunately I've even managed to screw up doing that once! So I double checked!
