Two kinds of Illithid?
Two kinds of Illithid?
In Hordes of the Underdark player meets Illithid slavers in Underdark. In next chapter in Cania there are Githzerai from planes who were slaves to Illithid. It appears that their former Illithid masters don't live in Underdark but also on planes. Are those two kinds of Illithid related? Is it a mistake in setting?

Well, I belive we are speaking thousands of years between the times when Githzerai and Githyanki were one race enslaved by Illithids and what happened in NwN:HotU. Migrations happen 
. Especially when you think of power-hungry slave-dependant race like our beloved mind flayers. Their expantion leads them to many places. Though I'm unable to tell which plane was their first.
It is possible that after Gith's and Zerthimon's revolution Illithids fled to Underdark from their home plane. That would be my guess . Still Illithids from outer planes are pretty much the same as any others.
