NPCs you wish you could recruit (spoilers)
I am replaying BG2 yet again and I just finished my encounter with the Spectator Beholder in the Sahuagin City...
Now I realise this would lead to complications at a later point in the game... but it occurred to me that I'd just love to recuit that beholder into my party...the dialogue, especially with Jan Jansen in the group, would be a blast....
So, this thread is about the NPCs you'd like to be able to add to your party, and why, if you had the chance.
Fire away..

The first one I can think of is Garrick. I find him to be SO much more tolerable than Haer'Dalis that he should be the one available in BG2. Of course, maybe that's because he didn't say much in BG.
I would also like to be able to save Shadow Patrick and use him in place of Mazzy. I can just imagine a halfling using a halberd.

Brave, brave Sir Garrick was top of my list too, but I'd rather have the ranger from the Shadow Temple quest than Patrick.

I think the neeber would be a good party companion. With the only drawback that he constantly interjects statements that interupt your battles.
Untill you kill him at least!

Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
I like Mazzy, especially in the same party as Korgan and Jan, the interplay is hilarious. She's also a pretty darn good fighter, ace with a bow, and by the time you get to ToB she's a real tank!
The one charactr I've wanted to be able to pick up for a long time is the Fallen Paladin in the Bridge district, not Anarg, but the one who you first talk to.

I can't remember where, but I read about a mod NPC named Naber. Even if you refuse to let him join your party, he forces himself into the group.Claudius wrote:I think the neeber would be a good party companion. That would be Reynauld de Chatillon. He'd be an entirely different sort of paladin than Keldorn, that's for sure.Galraen wrote:The one character I've wanted to be able to pick up for a long time is the Fallen Paladin in the Bridge district, not Anarg, but the one who you first talk to.
Somebody is working on making Coran a joinable NPC. You can find the post somewhere at PocketPlaneGroup.BALDURPLAYER wrote:i want coran and the guy u can release in the underdark from the trapped soul thing who is looking for his party. i forgot his name.
It would of course be nice to resurrect my first ever character in BG1 and recruit his prty, which I was unable to do as due to bad game design none-of them are available in BG2!!!!

It'd be pretty nice to recruit the inmates at spellhold, given that they had abilities dependent on their affinity.
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
-Safana (she is one of my favourite characters from BG I)
-Renal Bloodscalp (I like this guy, although recruiting him would ruin 'his' image as a high-ranking Shadow Thief)
-can't really think of anyone else...
And if I may add also may favs from ToB:
-Kiser Jhaeri (he would be interesting in an evil-aligned party)
-Balthazar (he would be definitely useful and powerful monk)

First the mage at Adveturers Market that's looking for some indigrients... i would love a crazy alchemy master in my team
Second Montaron... but without Xzar...
Third... Someone from Harper Hold, there are couple of characters that would make fine NPC's
Cztery Knights of Solamia... their leader, a fighter with halberd, could be interesting
