Without exploiting any bugs or glitches, it is impossible to reach the max level while having a six man party, even at the end of ToB.

there are places where an infinite number of enemy spawn - so if you are tough enough and can regenerate enough, you can stay in one place and just leave the computer - BTW guard mode is helpful to stop people running off - which can happen even in self-defence mode as missile weapons will attract an AI character away from a spot.
I left a party in the tunnels in Sendai's enclave and they amassed hundreds of kills - the treasure was beyond use i.e. hundreds of magical weapons and armours - after the first 30 odd of each the price drops so far that it is hardly worth collecting and selling. you need to make sure that you don't go too far in and get the slavemaster involved in the fight, because that is when they stop spawning. a character than can hide in shadows and has a number of attacks per round is ideal - they disappear the moment the last enemy is killed and when the next spawn, they get initiative and a backstab - I set a thief to 'aggressive' and they were able to kill the orogs without taking damage, so could do so ad infinitum - once I got as many levels as I really wanted, I carried on with the game. characters can get fatigued, but it hardly matters. if you want, you can nip back to the pocket plane, rest and resume.
I think it was Dragon Wench who confirmed that they just don't stop coming - an earlier play through, I had harvested about 400k gp in armour and she said that she'd waded through hundreds more enemies than I'd had.
the most dangerous 'farming' is WK - if you trigger Dema, providing you don't encourage him to leave his original spawn point, he sends horrible demon creatures after you in huge numbers (6 at a time) - if you can organise yourself correctly, you can kill these off and get (I think) over 20k points per creature - if you rest too much (to recover) Dema can disappear and the scroll turns to dust, but if you keep going perhaps using Wish (party rested) then you can really get some xp. 6x24k = 144k per spawning or something like that.
I have hit the 8M cap a few times.

aha i think i just found a really good way to reach level cap without killing one monster. go to the machine of lam the mad and do a random combanation. each time u do it there's a 10 percent u earn 100000 xp according to the walkthrough. so just qsave and qload until u get it.
EDIT: it WORKS, i just gained 5 levels with this trick!
