Level 9 or 13. Level 13 gives you an extra 1/2 Attack (and an extra proficiency point, of course).

Diablo II* | Fallout 3*** | KOTOR | NWN** | Planescape Torment | Titan's Quest*

As a mage, you´ll have 125.000 XP left, after reaching max. level, that´s level 31. Those 125.000 could be spent as a Fighter before beginning your career as a Mage, meaning you can be a level 8 Fighter and still reach the maximum level as a Mage in TOB. It all really depends on how much of a Fighter or Mage you want to be. Doing it that way you won´t miss out of any of the higher level spell slots in your spellbook.

However, as pointed out, benefits as a Fighter comes at higher levels. A level 13 Fighter gets you 28 Mage levels. And you should consider a Fighter Kit with your Mage class, in order to get a more powerful combo, like a Berserker/Mage. A Berserker will give you some nice skills to use along with your buff-spells, making you a real force in combat.

But level 13 is a good place to switch.

alright i'll dual at level 13 though i need some advice on weapon/weapon style to use. right now i have 5stars at 2handed sword and 1star at 2handed style. should i dualwield(use sk) or stick with 2handed? since u know, the thco doesn't very low(the lower the better), i kinda think i need the crom frayer for that 25 strength to make it up.(considering that i don't get whirlwind for 10 attacks nor any fighter hla makes me think i need a off hand weapon for 1[or 2 but no crom frayer]extra attack) any help would be appreciated! :)

also speaking of weapon proficiencies. i need a help with jaheira since she's 1 of the npc i gonna take and she's a multiclass so she's gonna have less stars than the other guys. last time i put 2 stars on 2 weapon as soon as posible and then 1 star in scimitar and had her use spetral brand and belm(totally dominating) so this time i might try something else. should i go for staff(for staff of ram obivously but is it gonna be effective as spectral brand + belm?) or spear or something i didn't mention? what do u think?

I think you bother too much. Any weapon combo can be effective.
Use the weapons you like and specialize in them. You won't get into trouble because of this.

Fighter/Mages combinations benefit from protective spells so it's generally a good idea to use 2 weapons or a 2-handed weapon with them (instead of weapon/shield).

The way I play the Kensai/Mage combination differs from others as I primarily use the Shapechange spell (in Greater Wolfwere form) for combat. So for me, the best weapons to use are a scimitar (Belm +2) and an axe (Axe of the Unyielding +5).

That´s possible. I´d go for some other weapon with immunities instead of Belm, but the extra attack is allright too, I guess.
