Is that due to genuine insomnia or an addiction to GB or various games? :) If it's insomnia......I find that popping a couple of Gravol before sleep works quite well.

I went three days once, wasn't pretty. :D

Main thing being, don't operate heavy equipment or drive while you are like this.

Probably due to the junk food your eating. get some fresh fruit, drink some tea, water and have some toast, cerial or something. Then go to sleep.

Just try and put all the thoughts out of your head and relax. Pretty soon you'll drift away and before you know it, you'll be in the REM stage :)
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

ROFL@Sleep.... I was just so impressed by what the doctor in Fight Club says when the narrator goes to complain about insomnia... "You just need to get some sleep." Well, duh. ;)

It's funny because he is probably one of the most important people in the film and we see him for about 2 minutes tops :D

@Armadin, I've gone through periods where I can barely sleep over two days. Usually it happens at the conclusion of some big, time-consuming project. Just when you'd think exhaustion would hit, I get the sense of exhiliration--my brain's way of telling my body, "Hey, who cares!" while my body replies, "f*ck you, idiot, it's three in the morning, why don't you imitate members of the human race and get some sleep?"

Bear with it. It'll pass. Either that, or you'll pass out from exhaustion. ;)

I only smoke weed when I need to
And I need to get some rest
I confess, I burnt a hole in the mattress
Yes, yes, it was me, I plead guilty
And on the count of three I pull back the duvet
Make my way to the refrigerator
One dry potato inside, no lie
Not even bread, jam
When the light above my head went bam!
I can't sleep, something's all over me
Greasy, insomnia please release me
And let me dream about making mad love on the heath
Tearing off tights with my teeth
But there's no relief
I'm wide awake in my kitchen
It's dark and I'm lonely
Oh, if I could only get some sleep
Creeky noises make my skin creep
I need to get some sleep
I can't get no sleep....

Sounds familiar?

I've had my share of sleepless days (I tend to gravitate to a nocturnal schedule). I've gone about 3 days or so without sleep (like Weasel) but it's not exactly something I recommend. Armadin, if you don't get your REM sleep your bod's gonna have a meltdown. Image

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Armageddin: I've done similar. I think I've done the longest wakeathon mentioned so far- I did over five days once. That was a really bad idea, and it's drained my batteries permanently since then.

What I find helps is to get a cucumber and put a couple of slices on my eyelids. Think of it as a low-budget Styx dry run. The moisture helps the burning, gritty eyeballs (especially if you smoke), and keeping them on involves lying still. In about half an hour, your body gets the hint and shuts down for a bit.

Oh, make sure you eat an hour or two before trying this, or at least have food by the bed for when you wake up. After a wakeathon, your reserves are pretty low.

Outsider's suggestion about food should be taken seriously. You may want to down a good, solid meal and quite a bit of water, then try to rest. The theory is that more blood will be needed by your digestion than by your brain, and this will allow the latter to slow down properly.

Of course, I've found that doesn't always work. It really depends on just how hyper you are.
