SPOILER (Exploit): Managing MotB Spirit Level & Craving

Post by XantharTheFlame »

Hey all,

I don't see this posted anywhere else (searched the forum), so I thought I'd pass this on.

If you are having trouble managing your spirit energy levels because either your craving gets too high or your energy level gets too low, and you can't rest or travel because of it, here is a way to get back to a fresh start without using "Satiate" or console debug cheats. It is an exploit, but can save you XP or a bit of guilt from cheating:

First, make sure you have a high enough spirit energy level to travel from Mulsantir Gate to the Wells of Lurue (closest point to Mulsantir and costs the least amount of spirit energy in travel time -- you can also use the Lakeshore if you've been there before, but don't do it otherwise because the first time you go the game forces you to get there at mid-day, and you may end up burning a LOT of spirit energy as the game will force you to rest the correct number of hours to make that happen).

Okay, so if you do have enough energy, the trick is to follow this sequence:
1. Use "Suppress"
2. Travel to Wells of Lurue
3. Use "Suppress"
4. Travel to Mulsantir Gate
5. Repeat a lot!

This will continue to reduce your craving, and eventually you will get to the point where you are gaining more spirit energy from the Suppress ability than you are losing from traveling. Eventually your craving will be 0 and your spirit energy will be at 100%.

Now, if your spirit energy is too low to start with, or you end up getting too low before your craving drops to the point where you start to gain spirit energy each cycle, then do this:

Tell all your companions to Stand Your Ground far enough away from the animal telthor near the world map exit at Mulsantir Gate that they won't accidentally get pulled into combat. Go over an use "Provoke Spirits" on it, then attack it until it is "Near Death" then use "Devour Spirit". (This assumes you haven't used "Suppress" already that day. If you have, and you don't have enough spirit energy to rest or travel without dying, you may be screwed and have to use "Satiate" anyway, or go back to an earlier save game to try this method.)

If you still don't have enough energy to travel safely, go into Mulsantir, then come right back out and repeat (there will be another animal telthor to eat). Don't worry about your craving level going up because your only goal is to get enough energy to travel so you can use my exploit above and start reducing your craving again.

Hope this is clear and helps people out.

There is, furthermore another exploit that does not require traveling for those who need to recharge in an area where the worldmap is not accessable...

Things you need:
1) Spirit Energy of 9+ (and regeneration items if you're taking damage from low Spirit Energy)

2) 8 hrs of uninterupted rest (if you get interupted by enemies too often, using this trick will not work and leave you more drained than before)

3) Craving of zero (resting 8 hrs at 0 will use 8 SE)

4) Okku or Someone who can cast Summon Creature "Elemental" such as Gann in your Party (adds +2 to Supress)

5) Orglash Summoning Crystal or Someone who can cast Summon Creature "Elemental" such as Gann in your Party

Steps:

1) Rest to recharge Supress/Orglash/Spells

2) Summon Orglash (adds +2 to Supress)

3) Use Supress - Supress recovers 5 SE (+2 for Okku, and +2 for Orglash and/or +2 for Elemental = +9 to +11) -8 for Resting = Net gain +1 to +3 SE

4) Repeat 1-3

It's tedious, but it is a non devour/ER, non-map, non-satiate way to recover SE
