Say Cheese? (spoilers)

Post by dragon wench »

Since I can finally run a lot of large mods and texture replacers simultaneously I am having tremendous fun with Adventurers 3.0. Basically it rebalances the entire game and makes it quite a lot more challenging. It's like playing Morrowind for the first time, almost, because you actually have to think a bit at various points. Fights with major bosses are no longer a stroll in the park.

So... I had to strategise after my level 22 battle mage repeatedly had her arse handed to her by Gothren and his two Dremora henchmen...
After reloading several times, I finally decided to make use of mark/recall and some of the Telvanni toys that had been given to me. I cast Mark in the room down the hallway from Gothren.. then in the narrow space near him, I cast Aryon's Helper (the glove that summons three atronachs), quickly I used Aryon's Dominator (the other glove) to cast command on one of the Dremora.. Finally, I taunted Gothren and as soon as I succeeded I warped back to my marked spot and witnessed the ensuing brawl from safety :D
Eventually a loan dremora came chasing out after me, and since I couldn't resist I used Gothren's helmet to summon my own Dremora, and then for good measure I also conjured a Dwemer Centurion. It was a short fight... :D
Now, I could have taken on the single Dremora by myself, but I realised I was out of healing potions, and like I said, the Adventurer's mod makes enemies *significantly* more difficult.

That fight was far more fun than I've ever experienced previously because it was as difficult as it really should have been in the first place. What I wondered, though, was whether or not I'd used cheese tactics...
However, I reasoned... my character is mostly mage, wears light armour as opposed to heavy and has a pretty low endurance... so really I was able to roleplay according to certain strengths, as well as being able to use quest rewards from my chosen Great House.

But, a lot of people seem to think anything that does not involve close melee combat is cheese, so that made me think.. Just how do you define cheese?

Thoughts ?

Going into a room, kill one enemy and then go back outside and repeat.
That's what I call cheese combat. How to define it then... Good question. Guess there might be a definition for it, but in the end, it's for everybody different.

"no melee combat=cheese". Neh, I mean... You're a mage, it's natural that you would go use tactics like that.

I think anything possible in game is up for grabs, if it's a game feature then it's more or less valid to use. I determine my play by what I think is fun really.

i don't really think of you cheesing really i think its actually clever to come up with the recall and mark spell idea. recall and mark was originally used for long term distances by me(shows my brain capacity)

and im a warrior/assassin kind of guy: Dark elf

Level:40
Strength: 110 (with help of amulet)
endurance:110(same amulet)
Speed:100
Personality: 42 or 43
luck:60
willpower:55
intelligence:82
and so on

so as you can see I really on speed to get me out of some were and my strength to kill anyone . So my idea of Cheesing would be Jumping on a high rock on a really hard guy to kill and just shoot him with a bow if he can't get to you.
