THE WALK THROUGH SAYS I have to kill 9 wraiths before I even see the wild hunt and I should scare him off by putting roots in a lamp and then he dissapears.
If I remember right I fought the wild hunt and 3 wraiths useing groop steel buffed then went single on the wild hunt.
He did keep healing his buddys but I ended up killing him.
I am trying the game again and now I am confused.
I am sure there are 100 people on this sight that know more than I do on this quest .
Anyone got any imput on this topic
thanks .

You only need to kill nine wraiths (and silver is better than steel here) to end the quest.
It's possible to "kill" the King of the Wild Hunt here, but the essence he drops isn't used for anything, so no real point to "killing" him, other that a bit of bragging rights.
To drive him off, kill 3 wraiths (sometimes, you need to kill six), then when he appears, put the Mandrake in the lantern.

Spoiler
This is technically a side quest, but the immortelles thing that is a possible reward is mandantory to putting both sisters to rest.
