Do you think the new star wars movie looks good?
I have seen the preview in the cinema before lord of the rings and frankly it looks like garbage.
anything with the title 'attack of the clones' has got to be a B-movie even if it has a high budget.

I'm walking backwards for christmas over the Irish sea
I've tried walking sideways or the front but people just say it's a publicity stunt
I'm walkin....arggggg
(Ahem) The singer Count Jim Fayes
was unexepectedly shot.

Die hard fans (like me) were let down by The Phantom Menace for a number of reasons. Mostly it was because George seems like he's become obsessed with eye candy and the technological side of making movies, but as our friend Kayless pointed out earlier today also because some of the more fanatical Star Wars geeks thought it would be the second coming.
I think that Attack of the Clones certainly couldn't be any worse than TPM, although the name is pretty stupid. From what I've seen of Hayden Christiansen in the trailers, I can't say that he's much of an upgrade over Jake Lloyd. I've heard that Jar Jar's role has been reduced due to fan grumbling and we get to see the Mandalorian Supercommandos in actions (Boba Fett wears Mandalorian battle armour) so that will appease some of the folks.
TPM's biggest problems were 1) George went for "visually spectacular" at the expense of a good story and compelling characters, which is a big, big mistake, and 2) there was too much hype and commercialisation. I mean, as I was sitting in the theater, I was picturing in my mind which parts were going to become video games (ie-the podrace scene, the space battle, the Gungan land battle, lightsaber duel, etc.).
What AOTC has going for it is that the story and characters could be a superb driving force if they're done right. After all, we'll get to see Anakin's descent into the Dark Side, the fall of the Jedi Order, and the emergence of the Empire. If George forgets for a minute that fans want more than cool lightsaber battles and CGI creatures, and concentrates on making a good film, AOTC and Episode 3 could be very, very good.
By the way, if you haven't done so yet, everyone needs to go to www.starwars.com and watch R2-D2: Beneath the Dome. It's in three parts and absolutely hilarious.
Solo to Jordan and Bird: "Can I play? Check it out: Off the sail barge, around Jabba's head, and into the sarlaac . . . Nothing but Fett."

The trailer certainly didn't fill me with confidence.
Well, I will probably see it, but I'm not expecting much.
See, all that sounds cool. The thing is, the trailer seems to be pushing the Anakin-Amidala love story rather than this stuff. And what we're shown of that doesn't really inspire me. I'm particularly uninspired by Hayden Christiansen, my impression from the trailer was his Anakin was, well, sleazy. I know he's going to turn to the Dark Side and all, but he should seem decent to begin with, IMO. Still, at least he's less of a little bratOriginally posted by HighLordDave:

You must've only seen the "Forbidden Love" Trailer. "Breathing" and "Mystery" play up the other aspects of the film rather then the love story.Originally posted by Georgi:

Heh, and to think people were b!tching about how nice Anakin was in TPM. Poor George can’t win. I'm going to give Hayden the benifit of the doubt (especially since Ewan McGregor has said his performance was great). *crosses fingers*Originally posted by Georgi:

I'm thinking that AotC will actually do better then TPM because people will go into it expecting something bad and be pleasantly surprised (knock on wood).Originally posted by HighLordDave:

Star Wars has always had dorky pulp sci-fi titles. When you think about it, The Empire Strikes Back is an extremly cheesy title. It only became cool in retrospect because the movie rocked.Originally posted by HighLordDave:

Anakin's fall most likely won't be until Episode III. We'll probably see the beginnings of his descent in AotC. I have to admit that the last scene of the "Forbidden Love" trailer was a little disturbing (and appropriate given the subject) with Anakin taking off somebody's head with his lightsaber (looked like a tusken raider). *Brrrr*Originally posted by HighLordDave:

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Her hardest hue to hold.

But only so an hour.

So Eden sank to grief,

Well, I never complained about Anakin... Sure, he was an annoying little kid, but no less annoying than any other little kid, I'm sure You never know, he could be good... all I'm saying is I didn't like what I saw in that trailer.Heh, and to think people were b!tching about how nice Anakin was in TPM. Yeah, and if you remember back to pre-TPM, people were talking then about what a stupid title that was... I mean, Attack of the Clones at least makes sense when you figure the movie is going to be about the Clone Wars.Star Wars has always had dorky pulp sci-fi titles.

You can watch/download at least two of the trailers ("Breathing" and "Forbidden Love" plus "Mystery" if you bought the TPM DVD) at www.starwars.com.
And if you still haven't watched R2-D2: Beneath the Dome, do so now. It rules. Plus, the "Christmas at the Fetts'" Flash video is funny. What are you waiting for? Click on the link and watch the video. Now.

Yeah, "Holiday at the Fetts" was too cute. Loved the stuffed Chewie doll Little Boba had.Originally posted by HighLordDave:

I don't know if this is a common problem, but The site always jams my PC.
Anyway, The name is dafinetly B- movie sounding, and the plot doesn't sound very good, except, that the best bad guy of all times, Darth Vader, of course, is going to be intoduced (Chronologicaly at least)

Unfortunately, I think Jar Jar Binks will appear in AOTC and Episode 3 (he was a general or something at the end of TPM), albeit in a reduced role thanks to lots of fan griping about how he helped "kidify" TPM.Originally posted by KidD01:

I can't stand Jar Jar, but there are a couple of guys over at www.theforce.net who have some interesting things to say about him (as a character and plot device).

I'm not sure what you guys know about the the story behind AotC, but the love is important, REALLY important (Queen amidala begets Luke and Princess Leia). They have to put some importance on that.
Personally I think TPM sucked because George realized that it had little to know influence on later movies, with the exception of introducing the characters to each other(which is a mistake, seeing as R2-D2 meets Obi-Wan, but later in "A New Hope" Obi-Wan does not remember R2, I think he would remember him considering he saved the ship he was on ).
AotC has a HUGE impact on the future, so I think George will go all out to ensure it is quality, and not leave fans wanting explanations. AotC is talked about for severl movies, hell Obi-Wan talks about the Clone wars in ANH, and it sets the tone(vader turning into vader).
IF(big if) George screws this up, he has screwed the franchise, because as far as I am concerned it is the most vital movie in the series.
Anakin should turn heel(evil) and the next movie should be him hunting down jedi, but thats just my take.

Well I am disappointed that Natalie Portman is going to be in it. I tried to like Episode 1, and I do like some parts of it, but I think she is a sad excuse for an actress. A lot of people blamed jake loyd or Jar Jar but she is at least as much to blame for the flatness of the movie as they are. Watching it again recently I was truly horrified by her performance, and the scenes where she and Jake Lloyd are alone on screen together are beyond awful.
You compare her to Carrie Fisher in Star Wars especially, and the devolution of the series is so apparent. Princess Leia was so spunky and smart, kindof a smartaleck, and so cute. Her delivery of lines like "aren't you a little short to be a stormtrooper?" and "this is some rescue!"...sigh
I think Lucas has always been bad with actors but he was blessed with Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, you compare this to the new movies and it is just sad...Liam Neeson was pretty good but he's obviously no Alec Guinness. Darth Maul was cool and all but compared to Darth Vader? I don't think so.
