Retro-Futurism: What it looks like.

Post by deadsanta »

I tried explaining what the aesthetic is that is missing in FO3, or is only partly catured by the robots and atomic cars, but I don't do the actual visionaries of the 20th century justice, so here's a link to some great artwork of what the people of the past saw in their future:

Here's some "space age" art from the same period:

Enjoy.

You can see some of these things in the game but there is a lot they could have expanded on. Like for example the House shapes, and some of the other kids toys. mini robots and what have you. The game does have more of a 1950's with a hint of future placed in to make you think its not 1950. While lacking a real submersive future ala 1950's vision. So many of the houses look like strait out of 1950. So I kinda have to agree iwth you on the look and feel of the game from potential visions of the future as thought of from the minds of the artists of 1930-1950 reality. Oh well. I still enjoy the heck out of the game, even with it's faults.
