Vista and the official patch 1.2 (under Steam)

Post by djingham »

I have managed to install VTMB under steam on Vista (home edition). I am now trying to install the official patch but am having problems.

I have tried to locate the patch in the various locations under the "Steamapps" folder (where the rest of the application files).

When I run the patch I get the following message:

---------------------------
Vampire - The Masquerade Bloodlines - InstallShield Wizard
---------------------------
Setup could not determine the current version of your VTM: Bloodlines installation. Please verify that the game has been properly installed.
---------------------------

If anyone can provide any information it will be most gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

I'm going to make a liar of you because you won't appreciate this information at all. Steam is terrible, don't buy games off it.

I don't like Steam too, as it is a terrible DRM and patching system for anyone not on broadband, but in case of Bloodlines the Steam version is already patched to the official 1.2 version.

Thanks for the replies.

I am not a fan of steam either - it was the quickest and cheapest (yes I am a cheapskate) way of getting Bloodlines.

I am now going to try to install 5.9 on my daughters Vista machine.

Wish me luck.
