My modem(56K)is going at 2400 some times it'sREALLY annoying any ideas?

ISP? Analog phone lines? My 56Kb v90 seldom connects at anything much faster that 37333..... But at work I'm on a T1 line! :D

@Craig; sorry. ISP is the server you connect to for your internet connection (Independent Service Provider). Analog means that the phone lines from your house to the first switch (phone company) are copper wires rather than optical cable. If you have a 56Kb modem it is v90 (just further designation of that speed).

The fact that it disconnects ususally means that there is either 'noise' on your phone line or your service provider's server is too busy.

I lied. Well...AOL lied. They say my connection is 115200, but when I went to numion.com, its ~2500whatevers per second. Which is apparently very slow.

So I guess I'm snail girl.

After Windows ME installation, my K56 connects with: 49.333 kbs wich gives around 6 kbyte/s.

@Craig: If it only is sometimes that your modem acts up (disconnects, connects very slow) it is most problerly you internetprovider (ISP)
