Hello, i'm new to planescape torment and I have some questions about how stats work.
1) Can quest rewards or items take a stat over its maximum of 25?
2) I noticed strength levels funny from 18 to 19.
It goes 18, 18/30, 18/60, 18/90, 18/00, 19, whats with that?
3) I noticed a lot of FAQs say to get wisdom/int/cha high before anything else regardless of class.
Has anyone ever done the maths to work out if you ever make up the spent stat points in stat rewards and experience, for stats like int and cha on a fighter or thief?
Lets say you spend 7 points in INT to take it from 9 to 16, will you eventually get those 7 points back in EXP or stat rewards just from getting that INT?
4) What kind of level difference would you expect to see for someone at the end of the game who ignored wisdom and just took what wisdom they got as rewards, and those that leveled it to 18 instantly?

1.) No. Twenty five is the absolute maximum.
2.) The higher the second number, the better. 18/00 stands for 18/100. It gives you a bonus to your THAC0 and damage.
3.) Well, first of all, putting points into Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma yields better dialog options and gives you more insight to the story. I'm not sure if anyone did the math, but I'm pretty sure that you do get the points back, not that it really matters as all you probably want is Constitution.
4.) A different ending and, I'm not sure about this, a few hundred thousand experience points?

“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
Going over Dan Simpson's FAQ, I looked at the events that requiried INT or CHA, and didn't check for Wisdom or other stats at the same time.
INT:
and CHA
INT seems expensive for non Mages in terms of rewards, but could most likely be made to hurt less with INT from items.
CHA is less expensive since 3 points can be picked up easily as rewards
INT:

Spoiler
1) Then you can grab his hand (DEX 13+) and convince robber to give you all his money (CHA 11+).
2) In order to purchase the necklace (you can talk them
down to 10 copper) you must have 10 CHA. If you purchase the necklace
you get 500 experience.
3) When you're talking to One-Ear to get Nestor's fork back, you don't have to fight him for it. If your CHA is high
enough 200 exp
4) avoid a fight - CHA of 13 you can say that you don't want any trouble, just to pass through. (no experience)
5) Ask him where he is getting the bodies, and he will tell you if you promise not to tell anyone. If you have a CHA of at least 14, then you
can insult his comparison to a *mage*, and how his finding bodies hardly
compares to magic (500 exp).
6) Alternatively: Talk to Stale Mary and ask to see the Silent King. If you have at least a 16 CHA, then she will tell you to go to the Northwest Alcove (in the chapel) and think of the Silent King. (3750 exp) This portal takes you to the Silent King, who is long since passed into oblivion. Hargrimm and Mary appear and tell you about it, then let you go (7500 experience).
7) With 13 CHA you can be nice and say that you don't really belong there.
8) With a 16 INT or 11 CHA you can convince him that all you want to talk
about are flames and burning (1500 exp).
9) With a CHA of 16 or more you can get a discount to 75 copper.
10) Since Jolmi wanted to see you so badly, I suggest you talk to her first.
What she wants is to murder you. Say "sure" and depending on your CHA,
you will be paid for the privilege of dying.
CHA 12 or less -- 1000 copper
CHA 13 to 15 -- 1500
CHA 16 or more -- 2000
11) And finally if you have a CHA of 17 or higher there is the motivational
speech for nordom.
+2 AC
+2 STR
+1 CON
+1 Luck
And everyone gets 60,000 experience.
12)
Can flatter ravel 2x with 13 CHA
4x with 16 CHA
Her reward is based off this:
Nice:WIS +1, 90,000 experience
Very Nice: WIS +1, 120,000 experience
So Very Nice: WIS +2, 180,000 experience
13) Giving up Fhjull makes you more EVIL. Lying about his
location makes you more CHAOTIC (and can only be pulled
off if you have an 18 CHA anyway
14)
trias - Next say: "The Upper Planes are the home of justice, beauty, and
goodness. They are also home to forgiveness. Go home. Admit your error
and beg forgiveness." This line only works if you have a CHA of at
least 14.
*ALIGNMENT*: This is one of the most GOOD actions in the game.
Conclusion:16 CHA (3 from rewards) = 4 skill points
extra good alignment
stats for nordom

163950 exp
flattering ravel for the 3rd level reward (+1 wis)

Also, this thread here can give you some helpful advice. VonDondu provides the minimal stat requirements that you need to complete all checks in the game.
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
For number 2) in the int spoiler you don't need 15 int, 9 is enough.
For number 18) the extra dialogue option doesn't change the outcome.
For the few situations you want int you can raise it temporarily with talismans.
For cha you can simply switch to mage, cast friends until you have 25 and switch back.
I don't think you'll end up with more XP if you spend points for int or cha instead of con or str (don't ever spend a point to raise it from 18 to 18/.. however) since you'll fight less and get combat XP more slowly if you're a wimp.
Spending points for wis is definitely worth it on the other hand, especially since the luck bonus also effects combat considerably.

Thanks a lot for the advice.
Now, for strength I noticed items can take you from 18 to 19 directly without going through '18/30, 18/60, 18/90,18/99, 18/00', giving the full bonus too.
Now, if you got to 18 strength, would you go to 21 strength, saving you 5 skillpoints, or would you just go to 18/90?
