Abbreviations..
Abbreviations..
I was wondering if anyone had a comprehensive list of what the abbreviations in the game stand for. Some are easy for me, such as HP, but what is MSR, NP, etc..?

noob questions
I've just rediscovered this game from GoG after playing the demo donkeys years ago, and nowhere in the manual (also that link didn't work for me and googling led me back to this page!) does it explain the statistics of weaponary, in particular:
HD (hand damage I guess?)
FT (fatigue? How does number link to the game play- this amount lost per hit or something?)
SP
WE
QU
... no idea
I've also got a bit confused about the relation between the red skill "bar" that you add skill points to upon leveling up eg. melee, and "training", as the manual doesn't seem to describe this bar at all. Does increasing the red bar give me a better chance to hit- I'd hope so considering that my character flails about like an idiot and then DROPS HIS SWORD AND FALLS OVER every time I try to melee fight- or is it like a level of potential or privilege that means I can be trained to a certain level like Apprentice etc, and THAT makes my character actually hit with his weapon?
Your help will be appreciated

HD is HP damage, IIRC.
FT is Fatigue damage that the enemy suffers when hit.
SP is the manapower left in the item, IIRC. It adds to your mana.
WE is weight.
QU I'd guess is quantity, like amount of bullets.
The red bar simply is the amount of skillpoints invested in that skill. Note that 1 point is 4 ranks. Backgrounds add ranks, not whole points.

I doubt you're right about the fatigue points, since I've only noticed losing FT when I used more action points than I had left, instead of on every swing. However, enemies consistently take FT damage when you fight them, and their FT drops faster with weapons that have higher FT damage, like a staff or a punch.

As examples the plain Hammer is:
1-5 HD
1-8 FT
5 SP
120 WE
100 QU
and the Inferno Hammer is:
1-8 HD
1-10 FT
5-10 FD <-- wait...
10 MSR <-- that's a new one!
5 SP
120 WE
120 QU
meanwhile things like daggers have much lower QU. Pouring over the gamebanshee equipment list has also uncovered "TH", though seemingly only in Lloyds Hammer and Almstead's Axe.
Not knowing what these numbers mean doesn't impede my game play much- now that I've finally got some experience points to put into Dexterity and melee I'm not falling over as much , it would be nice to experiment to see if they actually mean anything...

MSR stands for the Minimum Strength Required to use a weapon effectively.
IIRC, you can try to use a weapon rated for higher than your current strength, but you'll fumble and drop it a lot. Many weapons have a lower MSR if both hands are free, so if you're right on the cusp, you may want to put away that shield or lantern for awhile.

Speak softly, and carry a big stick. Or better yet: a big, sharp blade.
