I really need some help.. maybe resolution problem?

Post by moiraesfate »

I have the resolution patcher and everything was great before now.

Today I received my GTX260 and installed it. Wonderful little card. But now the game does not look right. In fact, it looks downright terrible. Where everything was clear and crisp in all image with my 7600GT, its now fuzzy. The eyes of the character even have this weird glow.

It doesn't do that with any other game I've tried (I tried them all tonight) so I'm assuming its something to do with this particular game.

Lets say you're looking at the screen. You know the left hand side where you see the flowing icon that is your health? It looks kind of like water. Well now with my new card, the whole thing is pixelated.

And I have no idea how to fix it. Its incredibly aggravating.

Do you have any ideas?

I tried to look for a solution on here but couldn't find one. I've tried other settings.

Do you think it might have something to do with antialiasing?

I'm not sure what else to post on here to help figure it out, so if you have questions, please ask me them before insulting me. Unfortunately I had that happen on another forum and its made me cautious. I don't mean to seem stupid.

Could be a lot of things. Maybe Vista is trying to pump DX10 graphics now that you have a card that can handle it. Or maybe the game doesn't recognize the video card and is defaulting to lower settings. Do you have the latest drivers for the card?

I assume you have the latest unofficial patch. I thought it included the resolution patcher + the shader9 dll fix.

If the game is unplayable, have you tried forcing directx 7 graphics?

Shortcut: "Program\...." -dxlevel 70

Try manually playing with the resolution/graphics options and don't forget to run the game in 95/98 compatibility mode.

What resolutions are you playing in? Are you using 16 or 32 bit, as well? Oh, just thought of this one, do you have your monitor's driver installed, as well? Try changing your anti-aliasing settings, in games, as well.
