Death-Defying Television Watching

Post by fable »

What is the worst thing you've ever watched on television? The most unspeakable, hideous, wretched stuff you've actually observed, by any standard you care to impose?

I won't argue with that, @Loner, but now you're being forced to choose. Surely there's something that stands out for its exquisite hideousness?

Adventure DUo, an anime i watched the other night, definately ranks up there, the story was appaling and the characters were terrable the VO was apalling and the fact that all the womengot but raped quite often also left a sick taste in the mouth. :(
I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.

Okay, I've got it. Any standard, right? Temptation Island has to win the prize in my book. Judging by the moral standard. I never actually saw the show however. Boycotted the very idea on grounds of righteous indignation.

@fable: Temptation Island is another one of those "Survivor" rip-off reality shows. The premise: they take people who are in "committed" relationships and put them on a tropical isle with a person who possesses all the qualities of their ideal mate (and looks really good too  ). Then we are to sit back and watch with relish as these people cheat on their partners, and watch also the partners' reactions to the cheating and the subsequent confrontation. This was not rigged, as it was discovered that one of the couples involved had a child. That was a big no-no and the network was apologizing all over the place...

BTW, I don't think any of the couples were married. IMO, doesn't matter. Still disgusting.

@Loner, that's disgusting. The networks actually ran something like that? Any sleaze at all so long as it makes money, I imagine.

They passed it off as a positive thing, i.e., "these people are going to test their commitment and/or prove the endurance of their love by seeing if they can withstand such temptation to cheat. Isn't it a beautiful thing, etc." And then when the inevitable betrayal occurs: "Here is a new romance in bloom folks. Perhaps these two illicit lovers have found their TRUE soulmates in one another because of our show." Or: "Forgiveness, isn't it beautiful?" High romance. Yeah, okay, whatever

Temptation Island was hilarious. I can't believe anybody was stupid enough to volunteer for it unless they wanted to get rid of their partner and get with somebody else better looking. :p

@vixen: Or lots of money and a chance at getting "discovered" and living off commercial residuals, not unlike certain "Survivor" alumni  Does anyone know how much the T. Island people got paid for that?...

Japanese game shows. There are many unbelivably stupid game shows in Japan, some are beyond your imagination.

And I hate chat shows.

I agree. They might as well have a script, they're so cardboard. And everybody has something to plug. Grrr...

I hate BOOTCAMP.
It is horrible.
Jackass is a dumb show.
I belive they're canceling it.
You have to be an absolute idiot to watch shows such as that, bootcamp, or Temptation Island.
