How do I get into the console?

I want to turn off the spirit eater thing. It says to go into the console but having never used a cheat or anything I don't know how to do this. I hope it isn't too hard. But this spirit thing is driving me crazy. IT keeps killing me all the time.

You press "`" (the key above tab).

I did that and got half screen like it was through a screen and nothing else. Do I need to be in the game or at options or what?

OK I got it to wowrk. Sort of. I typed in the code and I still die when I try to rest.

Reseting spirit energy

Open the console using the "`" key and type the following commands followed by Enter:

DebugMode 1
rs ka_se_init
DebugMode 0

Press "`" again to close the console and your spirit energy will be reset to 100. I try to consume spirits whenever I can, but I often get frustrated with the concept so I just reset my spirit energy and enjoy the other aspects of the module.
