Wanna play again: what do you suggest me?

Hello everybody, I'm new here and I come in peace

The reason is that I would like to find some interesting game for PC to play again. Of course, I'm looking for some good RPG, but I won't be disappointed if you would suggest managerial and/or strategic games too, even it may be a bit out-of-topic.

Just to share my tastes in fact of games, I've always been a fan of slow, strategic games as Civilization or SimCity 4, while I hate Total War series because they are too centered on the fight and not on the land/empire management and also always have the same concept of "pick the wood, get the stone and mine the gold and produce your men" and then kill everything.
Instead, in the case of RPGs, I've loved so much Arcanum, Baldur's Gate (and similar) and, you may guess it or not, I also liked a lot Temple of Elemental Evil, despite of the several bugs that affected it and the poor story, because I liked a lot ToEE battle system and the many options to customize the party and because it was much closer to D&D III edition than Neverwinter Night 1, that I've played until the end. I've never played Neverwinter Night 2 anyway... Oh, and I've enjoyed a lot even Gothic II and the Elder Scroll series from Morrowind (not Daggerfall).

Sadly, I'm no longer a kid and something important for me is that I need games with a good diary because very often I must leave the game for a week or two, due to job reasons and can't get mad trying to remember what are the game goals

Hope you can give me good advices, but I think I'm in the right place. Thank you a lot!!

You could give Heroes of Might and Magic V a whirl.
Definitely the more strategic side of combat, but lots of RPG elements.
It's really quite a nice game with both the expansions.

Might get tedious for you though, the management part is simplistic.
You definitely want to meet the recommended system specs or AI turns take forever.

Neverwinter Nights 2 offered a lot of fun too me. It's definitly more true to D&D 3.5 than NWN was to 3.0.
Have you tried a Might and Magic yet? Or Wizardry VIII? You might like those.
Fallout 1 & 2 (definitly not 3) are to be commended ofcourse.

Edit: May the gods of RPGs forgive me for not mentioning Planescape Torment first and foremost. Considered by many to be the best game ever.

I'm making a recommendation on the strategy side and put in my vote for Galactic Civilizations 2. There's an edition out with both expansions.

Wizardy VIII and Torment are among my most loved games. I have also written a deep guide for Torment on GameFAQ, some time ago, about character developing.
Instead, I've taken a look to M&M V, as suggested, but at first impact it is not the kind of game that I'm looking for. It looks like - but it is just an impression - as the better availeable version of something that I've already played too much. Instead that Galactic Civlizations II looks intriguing...
I will take a look to NWN2, too, hoping that it doesn't have such non-senses from NWN1, as to find a lot of coins into a forest or in cities, just looking inside garbage beans or under rock and grass

Actually, if you you don't own very, very powerfull computer, I wouldn't suggest HoMM V, but instead either HoMM III or even HoMM IV. HoMM V contains bad coding, which causes it to lag very much without powerfull computer or without being lucky and having such hardware that suits the game perfectly. Perhaps best thing would be to loan the game before buying and seeing if it lags or not.

Also, Fallouts are what I suggest (all of them, 1/2/3/Tactics), as I see that you like Elder's Scroll series. No, Fallout 3 ain't that bad, it's actually rather good game, even though it doesn't beat the old Fallouts.

And what about Black & White games? First one is probably quite tricky to track down, but I have seen B&W 2 sold recently in stores (at least here where I live). Not bad games at all.

LOL! I played the first one but I have been able to beat it only using cheats! Well, I've enjoyed the first one a lot, and the only bad thing is that I have not been able to satisfy my "avenging but good" deity side I was turing into evil just because I've teached my cow to cast sparks upon trees, lol! It was too difficult to stay on the good side! Anyway, I will make a try with fallout. I'll search some demo.

Are you aware of any innovative game for PC, as it was Shen-Mue for Sega Dreamcast?

Give Bioshock a go. It scores high for atmosphere and story. Otherwise you could try KotOR I and II. I also second the recommendations for Fallout, NWN2 and Gal Civ.

I'm tempted to point out that Might and Magic 6 has a new beta mod just released, but in all honesty you are probably many times better off with Gal Civ II. My brother said he enjoyed it pretty much, and he's a pretty dedicated strategy player.
