Would these stack?

Post by BornForBattle »

Hi guys, if I have
damage reduction 1 from having 7 levels in Barbarian,
damage reduction 1 from Greater Resilience feat,
damage reduction 2 from an adamantine breastplate
and damage reduction 5/bludgeoning/slashing from the Spearblock enchantment on my armour do they all stack, giving me damage reduction 9 against arrows?

DR/- does not stack with itself from multiple sources if I remember correctly.

But multiple types of DR do stack. So if you had DR 5/- and 10/Bludgeoning and slashing, then even if attacked by a piercing weapon, it'll do five less damage, and if it's a bludgeoning or slashing it does ten less damage (not fifteen though).
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

I'm pretty sure Greater Resiliency stacks with Barbarian DR.
As long as they're the same type and from a different source, they stack.
You can have different types in effect, but you only use one at a time: the one that offers you the most.
But multiple types of DR do stack. So if you had DR 5/- and 10/Bludgeoning and slashing, then even if attacked by a piercing weapon, it'll do five less damage, and if it's a bludgeoning or slashing it does ten less damage (not fifteen though).
They way I'm reading this, you're saying that DR/X only prevents damage from type X? It's the other way around: only X gets through.
So if you have DR 10/Bludgeoning and Slashing, a piercing weapon would do then less damage, since it's not Bludgeoning and Slashing. A Bludgeoning and Slashing weapon (can't think of one at the moment) would do full damage.

Whoops, sorry on that.

Yeah, if you have DR Bludgeoning and slashing, only bludgeoning and slashing weapons will do regular damage.

To clarify: "bludgeoning and slashing" weapons, so they should do both types of damage.
DR X/ Bludgeoning or Slashing means that either is good to get through.
