losing relics in 1.4?

I recently upgraded from 1.3 to 1.4. In 1.3 if i started a new game with the same character i would have everything. But in 1.4 when I tried to start a new game from the begining with my same character I start with everything but the relics.
Is there a way I could start with the relics?
My brother and I play co op alot and we both have a set of relics in our 1.3 save but not in 1.4.
Is this fixable?
