I bought BG2 five or so years ago and I've been coming here on and off ever since (although I didn't bother registering until 2007). Every time I've come here with a game issue, I've searched or posted my question and gotten excellent responses.
I finished BG2 a few months back, so I thought I'd try out NWN. Since I haven't played D&D 3.0 for some time, I went to the NWN forum to get a few ideas for strategy and character creation. Wow. What a difference from this forum. Most threads seem to be ignored utterly and those that do get answered get clipped and surly replies (basically, "UTFS, n00b"). It's light years away from the friendly vibe on this board - and it's part of the same website.
I'm surprised that it bothers me as much as it does - why should I (a grown-ass man) care about random faceless people on the net? But I think it's because the joy that people around here take in BG2 seems to be absent there. And I think the joy here is infectious. The result? I've just ordered a copy of ToB so I can continue to play BG2 and continue to lurk on these boards - where people are far more pleasant to be around.
Anyway, I don't post much, but I wanted to express my appreciation for the people who hang around here. You make playing this game even even more fun. Thanks for being engaging and friendly folks.
Cheers.
Mods, feel free to lock this if you feel it's pointless.
A little love for this forum

Yeah, I especially appreciate the way that the people on these boards seem to keep the older games alive. I first posted here in 2005, and it's still alive and kicking almost 10 years after BG2's release.

Some of the few members that are still around older than myself might be able to correct me, but the forum was mostly started because of Baldur's Gate 2, hence this being one of the main forums (besides the News forum and SYM).
But yes, cheers to all involved.
(This will probably be moved to SYM when fable gets around to it...)

If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

You are right, this forum was largely conceived because of BG2.. Now... I'm not certain we want to get into naming parents and DNA.. but anyway...Nightmare wrote:Some of the few members that are still around older than myself might be able to correct me, but the forum was mostly started because of Baldur's Gate 2, hence this being one of the main forums (besides the News forum and SYM).

Yeah.. speaking of SYM, to those of you who enjoy these forums you'd be rather welcome to check out the Speak Your Mind area, it's for general frolicking and chitchat

I have pretty much had the same experiances here. With getting Married ... the buying a house ..... and then having children (all in a 6 year span) the time I have to really play BG-BGII-TOB is limited so I'm in and out on the forums here but even after long absenses everyone seem more than helpfull and pleasant. I alwasy feel like I'm part of whats going on.
Agreed, great forum and even better regular posters here that seem to be helping people out everytime I have a chance to check in.

Once again time to give someone the boot to make room for Coran. LOL
