I have a laptop for travel and it has a Radeon graphic card. Oblivion recognized it and I can play and shut down the game without a warning.
I have a desktop that is only a year old and it has the Nvidia Geforce graphic card. The game was constantly freezing up and I had to cold boot the computer. Finally my hard drive crashed and now I have replaced everything. I reinstalled Oblivion only to get the message it does not recognize my graphic card. Played the game anyway to see how it worked and did not notice any problems until I logged out of the game. I had a small box showing up in the left top of desktop because the game didn't shut down. That's exactly what it started to do before I had the cold boot problem. Now I am afraid to play on my desktop because of my previous hard drive crash. I am wondering now if there was a connection.
Is there any fix that will enable Oblivion to see my Nvidia.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
I have geforce 7600 GT x2 and SLI enabled and have not seen any graphics problems on my machine with respect to Oblivion. I do get occasional crashes but not because of the cards. Most people have either nvidia or ati cards, so there would be a loud howl of protest if there were a known problem twixt geforce and oblivion I think. I also use nHancer to tweak the cards capabilities, but I do not think that is essential. Perhaps you need to check the configuration.
Unfortunatelly I am a computer dummy. I don't know how to configure anything. If you feel like giving some direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks also for your reply.
