I'm having a peculiar problem. I'm all patched up, finished the prologue and about to head off to Neverwinter. On the world map, if I click on the icon to load the West Harbour Inn, the game loads for a fraction of a second, then exits the map-menu view to the normal ingame view. The game doesn't load the next map no matter how long I wait.
Most controls including the camera angle and mouse buttons (though not escape button, the mouse cursor and the cursor keys) are locked. The game hasn't crashed, I can see the idle animations of my character like normal. I can even make it walk around a bit using only the cursor keys, but the camera view is fixed and won't change. At this point I can only exit the game by pressing alt-F4.
Anyone seen this before or know of a good workaround?

yup
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
It does reproduce with the same character. I haven't tried other saves as I have no others yet (reinstallation of NWN2), and it takes me about two hours to even get to that point.
I figured NWN2 has trouble accessing the following module. I can load to the swamp map just fine, which should be in the same module at least. If I try to access the West Harbour Inn map from there, the same thing happens.
If this really is an isolated bug, then my best guess is something went wrong with the patching process. I made a clean install from DVD on a fresh copy of Windows XP without issues.

I just created a fighter and raced through the beginning of the game. The bug is persistent even with a new character, so I am guessing something went wrong with the installation/patching.

Clean reinstall + latest patch + new character = exact same things happens. On top of that my installation now also seems to suffer from all kinds of audio feedback loops and buzzes. What a god damn mess.
Anyone know of anything else I could do?

Ok.. baron667 was right, it worked this time. I didn't do anything different either. I tried to load it maybe 20 times, and now it finally worked.
One point of interest. My C: Drive is full, only a few MB left. While I installed NWN2 on me E: drive, for some inane reason it kept storing saves on C:. Just now I wanted to make a new save, and NWN2 actually warned me there wasn't any space left. Seems like too much of a coincidence to ignore.
I advise anyone who has similar issues to check out their disk space. It may have nothing to do with it.

would you please note that a main OS partition (your "C:") with no space left, and this means less than 10-12% of free space available, will not let your system work properly.Tricky wrote:One point of interest. let alone a resource-hungry game like this one, even a simple word processor page might suffer slowdowns or freakouts, since system files and driver-related libraries, temporary or not, will keep getting written and rewritten on that partition regardless of most possible advanced system settings that would let programs write data on other partitions instead.
besides this, nwn2 saves grow shamefully in size as the oc story progresses (expansion is slightly better, but not much). while they might be just a few mb at early chapters, they do exceed 100 mb of size each in act 3, and since they are compressed files, the space needed for a save would be at least 3 times its actual size you can check on your disk after quitting the game.
generic tip: never run a system with less than 15% free space on the OS partition. performance of most software will be heavily dampered.
