I've got a few questions that i've been wondering about

1. Does dexterity help melee characters and in that case, how much?

2. What's the formula for speed based on ranged and dmg based on melee

Concerning Question 1, as far as I know, dexterity is not neccessary for a melee character at all. Dexterity might affect armor class, I don't remember, but other than that, it is not a necessity.

I don't understand your 2nd question, so I guess I can't answer that one :)

So far, the only thing I've seen the dexterity rating effect is what bow you can use. The higher the dex the better the bow with power and distance. So If your melee, I concur with the first guy. You don't seem to need dex.

I am not sure to what extent, but I believe that dexterity does increase your chance "to hit"; so it would come into play with a melee fighter.

The ratio for a melee fighter is something like %60 str, %30 dex, and %10 int. I don't know if swicthing to a ranged attack (for a time) to level up dexterity would make for a better melee fighter or not.

I found some info from other posts and summarized it here:
