I am starting up again to get ready for the new patch. It supposedly fixes and adds a lot of things in the game.

I'm not even gonna look at the box for the game again til the patch comes out that was supposed to wipe out the current hacks such as "ITH ITEMS" or "WHITE ITEMS" and all that stuff, because it really kills the fun in the game when a character of almost any level and build can come into a game that is 95% resistant to EVERYTHING and take you out without even thinking about it.

Yes, I also recently started playing again after a long break...currently I'm mostly playing a build called "samurai", ie an Assassin fighting with two-handed sword.

I never played a Necro to that high a level, I think my last Necro reached lvl 50-something. I am not so fond of Necro's in solo games because of the lower activity level I think they demand from the player - the curses last long and the golem do the hacking.

I was amazed however how fast the Samurai build can level (at least so far, I'm only lvl 50ish now and haven't played many hours at all) due to the massive damage she does. It doesn't make any difference if I play 1 or 8 players solo, everything except the act bosses go down in one hit anyway with the nice sword I have got :D

Yep, it's a very nice sword with the mod Cruel + something I don't remember, and 2 sockets :) I put in an 15 IAS/15% enhanced dmg and a 32% enhanced dmg...I think she also has some enhanced dmg jewel in her helmet or armour.

My old MF-barb used to have it as his normal weapon, but I don't play him any more since I got a much better MF-barb from Kam :) I actually think my Ass deals more damage than my barb did, since she uses a high level Tiger Strike.

However, if I can find a Vex rune, I may build her a Silence instead. Although the damage will be considerably lower, it has so many good mods so I think it's worth it.

LoD is very well worth buying, the game got a totally new dimension. I personally don't fancy the Druid much, but the Assassin is a very fun class to play, lots of interesting skills. All the new items and the runes and jewels also add a new dimension to the game, and Chapter 5 is a good chapter with some very interesting monsters. Certainly it's a kick @ss sword - I checked the mods btw and it's Cruel as prefix and Evisceration as suffix, ie 2 really big damage enhancing affixes. :D

Well, I still got a few chars (most of them got deleted over time), but I'm only logging in once in a while to keep them alive (which I failed with about 10 of my chars, most of them mules...) which means that I haven't played it for a year now. I'm going to try it again though when the new patch is out, so maybe some of us could play sometime. One thing though... I'm only playing hc chars ;)

I just picked up the game for the first time last week, having played the original Diablo when it came out several years ago. It was cool to play the series again, and LoD is much more entertaining than the original was. Right now I'm taking a paladin through Act II, and I just picked up the Horadric cube. I notice that Act II lends itself to a Barbarian character, which I will start playing and developing later today, more than likely. :D

damn, I'm really getting into this thing again. I patched and tried out the difficulty adjust thing, which is very useful, then I took down diablo. now I'm romping through act 5 and picking up some very nice weaponry and quite a few levels.

and the 1.10 patch sounds very interesting indeed. seems like it's a pretty big overhaul of the game. the way skills can effect each other is an especially notable feature.

I fear the 1.10 patch since I really, really don't have time to be addicted to D2 again! :D I hope it will not be released for many months yet.

It's not out yet and at least they say on Bnet that no release is set but they are "working hard to get it out as soon as possible". That's why I hope it will still take some time...
