Next Generation Barb

Post by Magpie »

Many great and new ideas have been created in the patch for characters. Some smaller ones like "double throw" barbs and the standard Hammerdin. Before the patch a Hammerdin would certainly fail.

Consider the new skill tree, and damage adding for this new concept.

I was thinking of making a Warcry Bard, and before you stomp off, listen to the posibilties.

Warcry is a damaging attack that recieves bonus damage from 3 other skills. It also stuns for long periods of time. In the extreme this could become similar to a hammerdin. The equipment would be simmilar with probaly: 2 heart of the oak, valor, sojs and that stuff.

Do you think this is worth a try?

Definately worth a try and if it fails you can always make a singing barb out of him.

i have seen a few wc barbs around and it is a good skill to use. Might i suggest u have enough str to hold your gear and put the rest of the points in vit and energy becuase u wont be useing the weapons for attacking right?

Yoadlying Barb sounds very funny, (no idea how to spell it properly sorry) you could put him in Leiderhosen and give him a tankard of beer as a weapon :D :D ;)

Warcry Barbs do work against certain unprepared duellers, however they have no chance whatsoever against whirlwinders, which are frightfully common (a generally anybody which has good fhr or can hit outside cry range with enigma).

I would think this build would make a nice party member with characters that deal physical damage. I have seen a guide for this build on the web and one thing that stuck out from the guide; the writer advised using some points in energy iirc. Even for a singing barb, this seemed odd to me. I have never made this build though, so I took his word on it. For those who aren't filthy rich in D2 items, equipping this barb with 2 wizardspikes and switching to melee weapons would probably work too. A nice delirium runeword helm with good inherent +skills would be sweet.
Now you have me thinking of this build and wondering if I should give it a try.
