Wesren Cross. The red barrel is accessable after leaving Wesren Cross. But you said the door would not open? You mean the door to the elevator out of Wesren Cross?

I don't know of any lock to prevent the door from opening. I was playing the game today and didn't clean out the room first and the door still opened. Sometimes directx fails and the game doesn't load completly. Try saving and quiting then reboot restart the game and see if it works.

You should have the version of DS with lOA if not consider upgrading.
