I think the obvious one is to not rush it to sales. I don't want them to skip any detail neccesary for the game at all. There are many, unmentioned, titles that have been released early for various reasons when they should have kept it, worked on it, made sure it was decent, and the like. No bugs either, don't want any of those, but then again, who does? Other than that, the other two were good enough in terms I don't want. Loved em.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

The excat oppersite of what I want.
I don't want more bland and generic NPCs who are a shallow reflection of what ever sterotype the developers think that gamers enjoy.
I don't want stupid no-brain puzzles just because it will provide a challenge to players and perhaps scare of some impatient Luke Skywalker/Darth Vader wannabes
I don't want my character to stop each time he tries to walk over a 5 centimeter obstacle.
I don't want so liniear gameplay disguised by the fact you can visit (small) worlds in random-ish order.
Oh - I could keep going....
but basically - I don't want an Action game slapped with a RPG lable.

I second Xandax's comments. Will either of us be listened to? Not likely, since Lucasarts is deliberately targeting the pre-adoloscent market.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

But that doesn't mean I'll stop ranting about quality of games..... hmm, sometimes I think I should start blogging to air my frustrations

Go for it. As far as I'm concerned, such voices provide an anchor of sanity in a hurricane of marketing blitz, designed to get kids to buy less content and call it more. There are even those designer entries about the forthcoming Might and Magic 10 where the developer speaks about how dull and annoying long RPGs are. This is rather like auto industry spokespeople trying to drum up support for the idea that new cars should come with fewer features. One of the hallmarks of computer RPGs in the past and one of their strongest selling points was the length of the game and the growing, shifting challenges you faced. Arguing that we're better off for getting less is an amazing triumph of commercialism over logic.
So as long as we can point to really good puzzles, lengthy campaigns, major changes to gameplay in other, older titles, I think we serve a purpose of reminding today's computer generation of a time when developers weren't own by corporate industries whose sole goal is turning a huge profit. And this applies to Kotor3, as well.

Perhaps I should edit in a comment in the sticky - grumpy old-timers are only allowed one rant per thread.
I agree with both fable's and Xandax's comments regarding what is *not* wanted in KoTOR 3 - perhaps this is because I'm part of the old-timers who recall the golden age of computer gaming before it became a tremendously lucrative market that sucked in corprorate vultures like flies. Now, as I amble along the game aisles in stores knocking kids out of the way with my cane so I can see what's on the shelves these days, I just don't get excited by what I find there anymore.
Personally, I would love for KoTOR3 to trade the aurora-type engine for a different one - yep, I'm talking about a 2D isometric screen with 3D rendered characters. Instead of devoting code to tweak and manage 3D renderings, the developers might find themselves with more room to devote to nice artwork, and story involvement. You know, the old-fashioned concept of atmosphere and character depth. NPCs might take on a life of their own, more attention to detail can be poured into the artwork...

Oh Goody, old timers bickering... this should be interesting.
Your too right about the target audience. The last time I had a challenging puzzle was, dont laugh, the pillars in the first one. But considering the current trends and what type of games are big now (shooters, great, what interesting goals ), the chance of any old style RPGs, what with the current kind of gaming, is slim. If you were a company CEO and saw the people liked more action based games and the target was for pre 16 year olds, what would you make?
Old RPGs were more popular, cause at the time, what kind of game was the easiest to make. Any action and strategy game sucked (city building was OK), and the best kind of games were "wandering RPGs" (I dont know where I got the term, but I like using it, it rolls out of your mouth nicely), cause you could incorporate movement with plot development, like reading a 3D (ok, 2D, but with pretty colours!) book.
But now those take time. I think that the best way to enjoy an RPG is to get a nice new series and play it, since its release date is more determined by when its done then !CHRISTMAS SEASON! If Kotor III comes out, Ill be waiting a while for the price to lower before I get it.
And I have a feeling that this thread is gonna turn into one of those where 400 people post and nobody reads it.

How nicely put.
I'm not an "old timer," but I'm not so young, either. I did find it rather annoying to play around with puzzles a 7 year old could solve... well, when I was 7 I was a math whiz, and the math puzzle in the Dxun tomb would've been cake. I also don't want easy puzzles in the game, but--for reasons already stated--it's not likely to happen.
I don't want Revan back as a PC, nor the Exile. I don't want some cheesy storyline that wasn't well-thought out just to link the first two games together; I'd hope the third game will have a good plot to follow. I don't want to be able to coast through the planets with relative ease; it'd be handy to find some nooks and crannies in each place with something useful or something to do, or have the NPC side-quests brought back. I recently got Thief, and have been playing it a lot, and maybe we should be able to hide in shadows; it's a common enough tactic in a few games, so why can't we hide in KotOR III? (aside from the high level of technology, the fact that the troops have nightvision, the Sith can sense you in the Force, the droids can see heat signatures) I don't want stupid enemies; they should want to chase you, and if you can duck into a corner to lose them, they search for you. So far, the only application for the Stealth skill is to use the myriad of stealth belts in the game, and if you ask me, the Stealth skill could do just a little bit more.
I could say more, but what I'm thinking about now that I haven't typed--and some of what I've already typed--belongs more in what do you want than here.

I don't want to see Ebon Hawk again. I mean it was a good ship but it would be nice to know that there are other ships in the galaxy we can travel on. And I also don't want to have my main character suffer from amnesia again. The storyline should be more inovative. And I'd like to see more developed romance plot than in first two games. It would also be nice if we could have more options in character customisation when it comes to appereance of our character. Not just to choose the face but maybe different hair styles, hair colours, eye colours ........
May the Force be with you!

I personally want to be rid of random powers such as the bubble that shields poisons (I'm sorry I forgot what that monstrosity was called). I want for powers such as fear and confusion to all be placed into arsenal of mind trick. Anything that requires telekenises to be placed under force push and make these powers handle more like the G-gun from Half-life.
Oh, and I wish that we wouldn't have to take on team members onto the party. I'd rather talk to my ships computer than have to converse to weird and unbelievable characters for the sake of enhancing my guy's stats.
Also, I wish that we would not not have many more features in the game. For example Multiplayer ; ).

I don't want thinly fleshed out party members and a weak or unfinished story. Also, I don't want a large number of party of jedis. I thought the amount of jedi available for your party was far too many in both games. It would be nice to have reasons to use the gun slingers and droids, other than color.
The other big thing I don't want to see in the game is reused territories from the previous games. Personally, reusing Ebon Hawk, Korriban, and Dantoine in KoTOR2 seemed uninspired and boring to me.
Finally, I don't want to see the same kind of tactical and combat ease we saw in the second game. The game doesn't have to be horribly difficult. However, the KOTOR 2 title was among the most painfully easy RPGs I've ever played. I'd like at least a moderate challenge from time to time.

I'm divided on that. On the one hand I don't like using guns and my jedis are always proficient in what a droid can do (computer use, repair, demolitions etc), so that doesn't make me want to play 'normal' characters. Also, I don't want a large number of party of jedis. I thought the amount of jedi available for your party was far too many in both games. It would be nice to have reasons to use the gun slingers and droids, other than color.
On the other hand because of the above I rarely, if ever, used characters like Carth, Atton, T3, HK-47 or Canderous.
I could have used them in melee, sure, but I want lightsabres flashing around, not vibroswords. If I get to pick use another set or two of force powers in addition to my character's then great, they're infinitely more useful than blasters.
Plus the characters I most liked interacting with were Jedi, because they have a better grasp of what my character was going through and tended to provoke deeper discussions.
